Smile sleeping on curly hair

I just got a ouidad cut. I want it to look good on the second day, but when I sleep on it it looks kinda frizzy. How do you sleep on your hair? Ponytail, bun or what!? Please help

A pineapple (high ponytail) or a satin sleepcap. I also use a satin pillowcase.

i pineapple, and also since i shower at night its really important that i dont scrunch out the crunch before i go to bed and then i always have soft hair in the morning. i sometimes touch up a few spots but its pretty much frizz free. second day hair is a whole other thing, im not sure im much help for that, but i do pineapple and its sometimes okay.

Satin pillowcase. I wasn't so sure about it until I used it. I got mine cheap at Sally's, for like $5. I have really frizzy hair and I like it. And it helps me to get better looking 2nd day hair.

I've tried many different ways and my hair never looks good the 2nd day. I have to wet, reapply product and style- each time... sometimes several times a day.
Right now, I just put my hair into a low, loose braid so I don't have tangles in the morning.
Good luck

i can never win with this either, although i might consider getting a satin pillowcase. i usually sleep with a satin bonnet, which helps a lil bit for 2nd day hair, but i still get frizz

my hair has been ridiculous when i wake up in the morning. i think my issue is that i wash at night, but i have to because that's when i go to the gym so at night, it looks great, but when i wake up it looks awful - greasy, clumpy, the curls are in disarray... i am not sure what to do!

Default Haven't tried this yet, but...

I wonder if you left your hair "crunchy" at night, don't finish it, and slept on it, if that would help??? I started experimenting with twisting my hair, and find it really helps set my curls (although it looks awful at first) now, I wonder if you twisted your curls then let them dry that way and slept on them, spritzed with something in the morning and scrunched, if that would work?

Just a suggestion. I am off on vacation this week and might try that tonight to see what happens. My vacations are usually time for hair experimentation!

I don't get 2nd day hair often, but I did yesterday and I might even have had 3rd day today if I had been willing to go with a little more frizz! My hair is finally long enough to pineapple and that seems to work well for me. However, the biggest difference is

1) humidity level (can't control)
2) amount of conditioner (can)

Higher humidity gives me better 2nd day hair. More conditioner also helps.

Sometimes...it's just a matter of having a good hair day.

Nothing seems to work for me. I move around in my sleep anyways. So, I just wash it every morning. On days I don't wash my hair, I will put in some Jane Carter Nourish and Shine on it and that helps some, but it's never as cute as the day before. Or I'll pin my hair back so I don't have to deal with it.

A close friend of mine just sent me this link not too long ago:

My Hairdo Pillow

It was created for AA women, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for women of all ethnicities. My friend is contemplating purchasing one and I've asked her to give me her opinion of it if and when she does ... they are a bit spendy imo, but might be well worth the $$$ if they help to achieve second day (and maybe even third day) hair.

My most favourite tip 'of all times' from this site has to be the pineapple. Not only is it awesome to sleep on - you're not always flipping your hair during the night; but when I bring the pineapple down - and take my shower it works well. I have a very velvety scrunchie which I only put up once - don't make it a tight pineapple. and I love, love love them - the next best tip is The "Scrunch-n-Pump" = Clumps

so............that being said - I am a happy camper!!!!

So...I took a look at this and it looks cool. But here's my question. Couldn't you just buy one of those small little squishy pillows like at Walmart? It's the same thought process, right? Or the airplane nap pillows that you put around your neck when napping? You can get those in the squishy pillow stuff and it looks like it would be the same theme...would that work?

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Are you using Ouidad products? Generally I use Climate Control and the next morning I will either spritz some water in it or wet my hands and run them gently over the curls and scrunch them a bit. Then I mist with Botanical Boost. I will twist some parts that need to be refreshed around my finger and if I feel I need a little more control I'll apply a bit more gel very lightly. Then I'm good to go. It works best when my hair is on the shorter side. Rock the tousled look!
