Confession time...

I like crunch. I purposely spray on hairspray, not only to hold the style, but in hopes that it will give my wet hair crunch. I get insane pleasure from scrunching out the crunch. I embrace the crunch. It's my friend.
I love crunch too! I'm so paranoid about my hair frizzing out, that I probably keep the crunch in way longer than I need to. That and I think I'm used to having it there from years of using too much gel. I just don't want my hair to look like a poofball!

My confession is...I think I've gotten pretty vain since I've learned how to handle my curls. I keep looking in mirrors, car windows, windows, etc to see my curls. I look at old pictures of myself (which look foreign to me now crazy enough) and marvel over how much better I look now with these curls.

But it's ok to be vain, right? Gotta boost that self confidence!

Boy, it really depends on the gel (and the weather, and the position of the stars, and what kind of mischief Britney Spears has gotten into).

Here's my confession:

Lately I've been combing my hair after the shower and after it's dry so I can have soft hair with a slight wave that I can run my fingers through. I don't always want it to be super wavy.

Do you put any styling products in your hair when you do this? If I comb my hair once there's any gel in it, it becomes very puffy.

Anyway, I LOVE your hair, so I'm curious to hear how you style when you comb through it.

What about frying my hair with a flat iron (which now I know can cook cookies??? - 400 degrees - good grief).

Where or where do I start..............or finish????

Today's Confession:

I tried to straighten my hair! Seriously I got out my big round ceramic CHI brush and my blow dryer and decided I was gonna go straight today just to see what it would look like... and it WOULD NOT straighten. I could get the ends, but those roots were having NO part of being straight. I had the weirdest pattern going on at the scalp that about 1/3 of the way through... I stuck my head back under the faucet and started over... CURLY.

I will NOT deny my curldentity again.... I'm a curly girl and that's how I shall remain. Lesson learned.

Funny though... I put some pics in my fotki yesterday of my hair when I used to straighten (and also in that pic with the wrench)... there are ALWAYS renegade curls in the picture. In the wrench pic all the little fuzzies at my nape are curls, and in the pic of my by myself in the fotki if you look at the bangs by my part... that sucker is NOT straight... lol

They really DO always win. I guess it makes sense to make the curls look their best, than to try and straighten them and end up with curls anyway... that look like crap!

Yeah, I decided a few years ago to go with, rather than against, my curls. I always wore my hair curly, but would find weird ways to try to tame them some, but my hair would always look horrible. Now, I just let them free and let them be!!!

My confession: quite the opposite, I hate the crunch look and will scrunch out the crunch even to the point of frizziness in order to not look crunchy. I do, however, try to find a happy medium...but if I error one way or the other, it's frizzy over crunchy.
That's right, I said it! I wear scrunchies!!

Funny tho... I love having the crunch to start with, because I find the "scrunching" process a little therapeutic... lol

Routine Described Above:

1. Shampoo and condition as usual, detangle hair with comb when soaked in condish
2. Rinse thoroughly
3. Apply leave-in conditioner (or a bit of rinse-out as a leave-in)
4. Comb again and let air-dry (do not disturb!! ) or gently diffuse on cool
5. Comb through with fingers or wide-toothed comb when dry if desired.

I can't use gel for this routine because the holding agents knot my hair like crazy. If I want to go curlier I use gel and/or other products with hold and skip the combing (except in the shower).

ETA: I also like how this routine makes my hair dry so much faster. If I pile on the products it takes like 6 hours to dry. Not good.

Confession of the day: I'm wearing a scrunchie right now.

I've had a migraine for 3 days, it's 84 degrees out, I just want my hair out of my face. And I went to the store that way. Don't like it? Come and try taking it out! Grrrr.

My confession:

Since getting my hair cut and taking on board the tips I've found here, I think my hair looks GOOD. All the time.

(This might not sound like such a big deal to you folks, but I have spent a lifetime hating my hair literally to the point of wanting to shave it all off and wearing a wig instead. Looking at my reflection - or even my shadow - and thinking I look good is a big deal to me. Huge. Gigantic. Enormous. Humongous.)
