Default Second thoughts about my length.

I cut my hair two months ago and I thought it was great!I got quite a few compliments and I really liked the change. Now i'm having second thoughts . I'm 17, but the length makes me look like a 12-year-old. Any thoughts on how to deal with this?

Your cut looks really good!

And you don't look 12.

For the record, I still get mistaken for 12, and I'm 30.

Enjoy your curls and grow them out if you want, but wear them the way *you* want to, not the way you think people think you should look.

I am also one who is mistaken to be younger than I really am. To give you an idea of how it is for me, I recently played a 12 year old girl in a play...as a senior in college.

Yep. It's that bad. But I'm used to it and don't mind it so much anymore. In a way, it gives me a longer acting career!

Aaaanyways, for the record, I don't think you look too young. You have great curls! But if you're still bothered by it, maybe some layering will help, so it looks less like one length. I found that layering helped me look a bit older

ITA with everything. I'm 30 and I still get mistaken for a teenager too.

Think of it this way, in years to come you will be glad you are mistaken for a younger age!

BTW I like your hair, it has beautiful curls. I second the idea of adding some layers if you are really unhappy with it (but I dont think you need to be)

Well, I'm very jealous of everyone being taken for younger than they are. Only in my dreams...

_Amanda_: I don't think the cut looks too young on you - it looks lovely and your curls look really healthy. But like others have said, if it bothers you, layers might be an answer. Your hair seems to spiral perfectly the way it is though!

You have beautiful curls and the length suits you! I think curly hair makes a lot of women look younger, and believe me, this is something you'll be grateful for as the years start to creep on by! Curly hair is youthful and playful so enjoy!

Yep, I was told I looked 16 or younger last week and I'm 26. Your curls are BEAUTIFUL. I would kill for them. Sorry, I have no advice on the haircut...

Your curls are beautiful!!!

Trust me... be grateful you look young. I believe I'd have to try really hard not to kiss someone full on the mouth for mistaking me for being that much younger these days!

The only time I get looked at funny is PTA meetings for my 16 year old son... apparently they don't think I look old enough to have a Sophomore for a kid. I'm glad!

Maybe it's the curly hair that keeps us looking young! I get told all the time that I look much younger than I am. BTW I think your hair looks great! I'm looking to get mine cut soon.

I love your curls and the length really seems to suit you. I think you look just the age you are, and agree with the others that you will be ecstatic when you're older.

The other day my cousin text messaged me and said she went to a salon and they asked her if she was there to get an updo for prom...only problem? She's 29! She was very flattered.

Oh, one more thing. You have the most gorgeous eyes and fabulous skin I've seen in a while. You're beautiful.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

I think your hair looks beautiful and the style suits you. I also think that you look your age and that the cut doesn't make you look in the least bit childish.
