Aubrey Organics Island fantasy - anyone try it?
Sorry, Island Naturals, it should say Anyway....
I went to Whole Foods today to get the AOHR (which is highly recommended here), but the Island Naturals caught my eye. the AOHR is for dry, brittle, but the AOIN said dry, frizzy. And the back of the bottle talked about curl retention....
SO I bought that instead (poo and Cond). ANy feedback on this?

It smells like Noxema and has tiny grains in it. IIRC it is pretty high in protein so a lot of people don't like it because of that. Other than that, it conditions pretty good.

I actually like it--used it today. It's as conditioning as the AOHR--just a different smell. The smell doesn't last long on either one. It's good to have one of the heavy duty AO conditioners in your "collection." Most of us can't use them everyday. They are for those times your hair needs a little extra.

So, Kathy you feel the HR and the IN give you the same result?

I heard bad things about Aubrey Organics. I read somewhere that their shampoos and conditioners and other hair products weren't really organic (they can get away with that since they aren't regulated), so I wouldn't use them personally. Does any one here use Castile Soap? Because I read that it is good for clarifying and is a light cleanser.

I used Dr Bronner's when I first decided to ditch sulfates but before I discovered this site, and my hair felt better after it than after any sulfate shampoo I've used. I was careful to only wash my scalp, though; I didn't put it on the length.

Oh okay, because I used it (Dr. Bronner's) and i thought it worked really well. You can't use it too much though, or it will make your hair dull and dry.

Yes. There was a whole discussion about the AO conditioners a few months back. Here's the link:

I have used the AO Island Naturals shampoo and conditioner for years and I love them. I find that the shampoo does not strip my hair and the conditioner is very moisturizing. The strong spicy smell does not seem to linger once my hair is dry. I alternate the AOIN with AOHR just for variety.

I didn't like it. I was enticed by the supposed frizz fighting properties but it was just another disappointment. Felt really rough and stringy when it was in my hair and not too much better when it was rinsed out.

I actually like the smell of this one better than AOHR (I am not one for fake flowery smells). And like others said it does not linger.

The Island Naturals smells like spice cookies or cake. YUM
But the conditioner (never used the shampoo) left a waxy-like coating on my hair after a while & I don't know why. POUT

oh my god. I used this for the first time and my hair LOVED it but the smell literally makes me want to gag. I immediately thought of a creepy man in a leisure suit and too much cheap cologne. Reeks of somebody's pervy old uncle. STINKS! Perhaps my hair was in need of protein or something because my hair felt absolutely silky soft. The AOHR didn't impress my hair in the least, although it smells much better. (I still think Honey Rose smells funny-but I can live with it.) I wish Aubrey Organics made something that smelled like something simple...like an apple, or a melon or something. Ewwwww..

I actually just started using an AO GPB called Rosemary Mint -- it just smells vaguely minty with a very light floral tone. Not at all overpowering and I can hardly smell it after I put in product )
Actually, it's weird -- I bought the Rosemary Mint at Whole Foods, but I checked on the website and they don't have it listed anywhere... I even did a search. Weeeeird....

Aubrey Organics has some GPB conditioners/shampoos that they only make for Whole Foods.

I tried the island naturals conditioner and it felt like it was 95% protein. Usually it takes me at least 2 weeks to see the symptoms of protein sensitivity when I use something that has protein in it - with this one, my hair was crunchy and straw-like after just one use.

My hair is a protein hog, so I really like this conditioner! Plus, I think it smells better than any of their other conditioners.

I like it, too. I don't find it quite as heavy as the AOHR, but it's very moisturizing and my hair seems to like the protein. I don't mind the smell (although I was taken aback by it at first). As others have said, it truly doesn't seem to linger as much as the AOHR scent (or even the LVPNG, which drives me absolutely batty because I smell it all! day! long!).
