These pics are so great!

Would you all say that these amazing changes are a direct result of the CG method? Or is it also that different products and styling techniques are being used that makes everyone's hair look better?

I'm thinking of trying CG, but wondering if it'll make a huge difference for me. My hair used to be a fluffball until i discovered curl keeper, so i'm mostly happy with it now. But i'm wonding if my hair can look better than i would every have imagined it could on the CG method

That's what I thought and I didn't personally get any change though someone with type 3 curls might. I do think there is sometimes some overlap in the time people go CG and the time they figured out how to properly apply their products to best define curls. So the two are a little hard to seperate.

IME it took going CG AND a specific application routine. Just going CG and cutting out silicones and sulfates by itself didn't make more definition magically happen, at least in my hair. Though I am sure my hair was healthier. But I think there are people who have noticed CG itself decreases frizz, defines curls maybe even without applying product so maybe one of them will chime in to more thoroughly answer your question Bhattigal. But as it stands, my understanding of going CG is that it in and of itself will make a difference in most curlies hair, even thought it didn't happen in my hair. Some people may be able to get great results it seems with just some product application but you will hear as you go around this site that curls define best when they are well moisturized. No amount of product is going to define dry, damaged hair. And since CG does help with moisture problems you could probably see even more improvement if you went CG AND kept up your Curl Keeper application. Just my opinion.

But if you were still brushing your hair every day heat styling it with flat irons, curling irons and the like you wouldn't get as good results. However, if you changed your styling routine but continued to use sulphate shampoos and silicone based products you'd likely see better curl definition but the condition and quality of your hair wouldn't be as healthy. So if you put the two together - going cg and changing your styling techniques - you tend to see a greater difference. So while each of them separately will show some difference in your hair - it's the combination of going cg and changing your styling techniques to actually accomodate and encourage the curl in your hair that makes the biggest difference, in my opinion.

I did notice a change in the condition and quality of my hair just by going cg. It's softer, much less frizzy than before and just generally in better health. However without some sort of styling it can still be a hot mess. Just a very soft, healthy hot mess.
OMG, I am brand spanking new to this forum (even though I've been lurking for like ever....) but I just actually joined today and I came across this thread and I'm completely speachless and soooo jealous at everyone's results! I've had my hair chemically relaxed for as long as I can remember, and just noticed a few years ago that my hair might be curly and that it might look nice that way. I've been letting it grow out since March of '08. My hair is insanely frizzy though, and in my desperation I did a BKT a few months ago (March '09 to be exact), I thought it looked nice, but it's way too expensive and I am but a broke nursing student... =( Anyway, I'm dying to try the CG method, but I want to know what conditioners should I use for the co-wash, and in my profile pic (horrible, i kno...) I used the long-aid curl activator for dry hair, I liked it cuz it didn't make it crunchy. Could I keep using it, or is that a no-no?

Alittle about my hair... I have very very little curl in the front for some reason, somewhat nice curls in the middle of my head and probably kinks of all shapes and sizes in the back... It's amusing to my hair stylist. I kno I'm clearly not going to get gorgeous 3a/b curls, but I want to be able to wear my curly hair out in public without worrying that its going to turn into an afro before I get in my car! Any advice is very much appreciated! Thanks all in advance!
I want to try this CG product sorry im new here but was looking at everyones pretty curls..please let me know whats CG want to try it in my curls thanks for anyones info!!

Long-haired corkicelli on a college budget. Loving my God-given curls!
***CG since May 2009***
Hair loves:
- Suave Naturals Conditioner (Co-Wash)
- VO5 Conditioner (Leave-In)
- Tresemme Naturals (Rinse-Out)
- Any clear, alchohol-free gel
My hair was curlier before I started having babies in 2004, but I don't have any digital photos of it then.

Here is an example from April 2007, which shows how much my hair hates cones. My daily poo with light conditioner had dimethicone in it and I was using a pomade that surely had cones.

This is a pic from today using a cocktail of homemade flax gel and max green alchemy sculpting gel. (I still get a lot of fluctuation in my wave/curl pattern from day to day, but very rarely as straight as the above pic unless I'm reacting to a product or ingredient.)

And this is just one of my favorites from earlier this year...

I want to show my before and afters as a way to say THANK YOU. Thank you for this site and thank you ladies for all the helpful post you have made.
The before picture was day one, with gel only... HORRIBLE... and then... 2.5 months later (this weekend). I'm learning to not only love my curls, but have realized that curly hair is what makes me/us unique! (any one can have fabulous blowed out hair, but not everyone can have fabulous curly hair--> Im working towards fabulous)

Currently having a love/hate relationship with frizz... as in, I hate it, but it loves me.
