I'd really like to try this methode, do I have to use 2 different conditioner ?? and wich conditionner is the best or popular, that I can find at boots or superdrug (in uk)??

I read that some people use gels, is it going to damage or dry my hair ??

thanks :-)

(sorry if my english is bad ...Im still learning)

I got my first Curly Girl cut yesterday from Debbie @ Santo Salon & Spa on Chagrin Blvd in Beachwood, OH!

I was pretty nervous watching her cut my hair but omg are the results fabulous! In the above pictures I have my hair wrapped in a band, but you can see by the volume & natural shape how much the hair cut helped! Debbie did such an amazing job listening to what I wanted and didn't want All the split ends are gone from my hair and the shape is amazing!

And gel won't dry your hair out if you pick a good one and otherwise moisturize well. HTH!
OMG, LOOK!!

...It's a siggie.

Hey guys!

Here is me before I knew my hair was curly. I always just thought I had frizzy dry looking wavy hair. The pictures is a little blurry but it gives you an idea:

(Sorry...I tried posting it to this thread but it's not working! The picture is on my blog here:

Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
Nope. I spent the majority of my life with my hair looking like it did in my before photo. I actually envied my mom when she found a curly hair salon for the first time because her curls looked awesome and I thought I only had waves. I had NO clue my hair was curly at all. Weird eh? I am so glad I booked an appointment to see someone who specialized in curly hair. It really was life changing for me.

Sure! I believe everyone's hair is unique though and you really have to experiment to find what works for YOUR hair. Really quickly (don't want to hijack this thread) here is the stuff I use now. (I have fine hair by the way)

Shampoo: Deva Low Poo
Conditioner: Deva Condition One
Gel: Curl Keeper (with a bit of AG: Re-coil scrunched in) (Sometimes I used Biotera gel for extra hold)

Accessories: Bone comb, curl ease hair towel (for plopping) and a diffuser!

For more info check out the post I did last year on my blog:

http://meghantyrrell.blogspot.com/20...urly-girl.html

I'll update it with another curl related post one of these days.

Before:

After:
Fine and thin 2C in Australia
So I'm still not completely happy with my hair (the crazy dews isn't making this easy), but after asking a ton of questions and taking in everyone's advice (and around a lot), I'm content enough with my the results I've been getting. I want to thank everyone on this forum, you guys are great help!

The first pic is from 2 years ago, when I had a relaxer in it. You can see how thin and stringy it looks... I thought it looked cute...

The second is from right before I started CG. My hair got a lot thicker since I stopped relaxing it, but it had a lot of damage (from the constant blowdrying and flatironing ) and I couldn't get any definition... I hated it (this is what I was dealing with the past 2 months after starting CG).

Then after getting a ton of advice from you girls I managed to find some products that are giving me definition without breaking my wallet. These results aren't from the new products I'm trying (I just really the pic though)

Mostly fine hair, coarse around my edges and nape.
Definitely high porosity and insanely dense.
Not so sure on the elasticity, but I don't think I have a very good moisture/protein balance and my hair is ubber dry, so I'm going to go with low... of course I could be very wrong.

Regimen:
Cowash/RO: HEHH, AIA Coconut Cowash
PT: Ion Effective Care Treatment
DT: Any condish with EVOO+Honey
LI: SM CES or PM The conditioner
Styler: EcoStyler Olive Oil, KCCC, or Let's Jam

Thick, mostly 2c with some 3a; fine texture, medium/high porosity, and a very strange curl & wave pattern.

Started CG (properly) as of 6/31/2009.

Cowash | Suave Naturals Ocean Breeze or Juicy Green Apple
Rinse-out | Burt's Bees Super Shiny
Leave-in | Live Clean Intense Moisturizing
Gel | HESMU

Right now: growing hair past shoulder-length, looking to take decent hair picture (my avatar is my first day of CG).
Wow Rudee! I had no idea your hair went through such a transformation! You really got curly!
CG - 3/27/09
3b - dry - medium texture/medium porosity!
Co wash/rinseout/leave in: currently auditioning products
Styling: lube and BRHG
Believe me Crystal, I have my Crap-O hair days, but it does get better and better with time.

Tinah, lol, were you not on the site when I joined? Yup, my hair was that sad!
