Before (Basically, a frizzy mess. The only picture I could find where my hair wasn't straightened or in a ponytail. Also, when my hair was its natural color.)

First co-wash (2 weeks ago)

About an hour ago (also after a weird haircut and having some of the above color removed)
2-something, fine-med, med. porosity

Current Faves: SoF bars, Suave Coconut CO, LVPNG, KCNT, CK, KCCC, Deva AnGel, HEBE, FSG

I've had curly hair my whole life. From as early as I can remember until my freshmen year of high school my mother would force me to keep my hair straight, and even do the 2 hour process for me 3 times a week. I finally decided one day that it really wasn't worth all the effort. My hair was broken and damaged when I went all curly, but now its silky, bouncy and fun! I wouldn't trade my curly hair for the world!

I agree TTug - you have my dream hair!!!
UK curly - mostly 2c
  • Going back to basics!
  • Happily using a mixture of sulphates, cones and CG products.
  • Permanently undecided whether to cut or grow!
Currently loving:
Lush I Love Juicy shampoo
Charles Worthington frizz smoothing conditioner

Superdrug coconut & almond intensive conditioner
Montagne Jeunesse avocado & cherry bark mask
Umberto Giannini curl gel
Boots 'pink' curl creme
Thank you all so much! I've struggled with my curly hair forever and finally figured out the secret...MOISTURE! I usually use your normal drug store conditioners to be economical (because I go through a bottle of the stuff about every 4-5 days) and spend more money on the styling products. I try different products every time I buy them. Right now I'm using CHS and there alright but I'm definitely going to try the Deva line after getting a hair cut at Devachan. I always put my products in, in the shower when my hair is sopping wet. I also use the Curls Like Us towels and LOVE them. Then plop for about 15-20 mins and I'm off! Occasionally I'll defuse if I have the time.
so shine and so beautiful!
Please show us your routine!!

I feel a little lame for bumping this, but it's a really great thread, and it helped me through my toughest CG days. You've just got to know what you're working for.

That being said, after 5 days less than a year of mod CG, I have pictures to share.

First pic is a before from a humid climate
Second is an after from the exact same place a year later
Third is an especially good mod CG day I just had to share.

Keep posting pictures, you all have gorgeous hair!
CG since 10/18!
Products: Suave Naturals Lavender Conditioner, Burt's Bees Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar, ACV rinses, and Graham Webb gel.

I'm 2a on the top layer, 3a in the middle, and 3b near my neck.
Yup, just another Coloradan battling the weather.
I was on nc.com since spring, but had a lot of trouble resisting the urge to shampoo. I was so amazed at the transformation of me not brushing my hair, that I didn't think it was going to get any better. But guess what? It DID!!! I'm still experimenting, trying to control the frizz, etc., but I still think these pics show the difference. Thank you to all the curlies on the website who supported me! And if you don't know whether or not you should go CG, do it. You won't regret it.

Aww, thank you!!! Trust me, I used to have the worst hair days before CG. Middle school was the biggest hair nightmare of my life. I'm just really thankful for finding out about CG and all the helpful tips on here!

I love this thread! It was what encouraged me to try CG.
