Post your before & After CG pics

Mildly unrelated, but, I'm on day 3 now of the CG method (hair so much softer, no frizz what-so-ever) and my curl pattern still hasn't changed, but I have been experimenting a little -

The first day, I did plopping and then diffused a tiny bit and let dry the rest of the way, and it turned out how it did in the above photos. The second day, my hair got a little messed up (touched it too much haha) so I scrunched water into it using someone's method (can't remember the name!) where she gently pushes water from the sink into her hair to reclump it. Then pixiecurl diffuse method. Same results.

Today, I did something strange ... and brushed it. I like my part to be very precise, so I brushed the part out and then brushed my bangs down how I usually do when I straighten it (side-swept bangs) and then pushed water into my curls again so they reformed. Results? Very pretty, Veronica-lake style waves! Definitely in the B category. Dramatically different effects - yesterday I had tight curls in the back, today very relaxed, soft subtle curls and waves.

Unfortunately I left my camera in my boyfriend's room, but hopefully I can do this again tomorrow and post pictures.

Have any of you ever done this? Brushed it out, then re-wetted it, and gotten a very different effect?

Your hair is amazing! EVERYONE's is!
It's so crazy how much this one method can change someone's hair completely.
I'm definitely going to start it! But, are there brands that sell sulphate free products that aren't Devachan? Ones that come from Sephora, or (even better) a drug store?

Also, just by peeking in a lot of members' signatures, you can find many good products to use. For example, my signature includes all the cg-friendly products I am using that all came from Kroger or CVS!

Definitely try out the method, it works wonders.

OMG, LOOK!!

...It's a siggie.
I have Botticelli curls that I've always loved but over the last few years, as I've started dying my hair excessively, my hair has become more dry and the curl pattern has loosened. I am willing to try anything. I just read Curl Girl and feel a sense of renewal.

I didn't shampoo my hair today but I did comb through it after I got out of the shower. What do you recommend? Should I comb my hair with fingers or comb?

Also, does anyone recommend a specific conditioner and gel?

I'm planning on making the Lavender Spray and using some of the natural homemade conditioning treatments.

I've never been able to not touch/scrunch my hair while it's wet. Does not touching it really help eliminate the frizz?

Any other advice on styling?

Any help is appreciated.

:-)

Ok, im trying the CG Method, still experimenting with very limited products! Here are some pics of my curls b&a!!!

This is before CG and before i had my daughter, i actually think my hair looks fine

this one is after my pregnancy and birth of my DD

then i started to have prolactin problems and i have a prolactinoma, and well this is after the CG, i've been just a few days trying the CG and still dont like how my hair looks

btw, very beautiful curls!!!!!!!
Very high dews (70F or more) and lots of humidity (above 80%)
3a/3b mostly, normal porosity, medium texture (I think)

Sometimes I use: TRESemme flawless curls shampoo
Co-wash: Suave Green Apple
Conditioner: Garnier Fructis Oil Repair
Styling: Flaxseed gel, shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie

Still experimenting...

Day 6 CG. I used to straighten every other day, followed by silcone cream, blowdryer, hairspray, AND flatiron! My hair was sooooooo curly as a kid, super full and fairly coarse. My mom had no idea what to do and either did I. Between perms, blowdry, sun-in, and lots of brushing I looked like a white Diana Ross by the time I was 8 or 9. I didn't know what to do, so I straightened. It seemed to relax things and cut down on the volume which at the time seemed to be great. Then, a couple months ago, I decided to go back to my natural curl and found that it seemed to have disappeared. It was a puffy mess.

So I turned to the internet and stumbled across no-poo and CG forums and started reading. When I started I was washing my hair every other or third day with Davines poo/condish, no wet in-between.

Now I Co-wash primarily with VO5 Vanilla Mint Clarifying. I was using Suave Coconut as a rinse out, but just tried Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition and LOVE it! Then I apply TIGI Foxy Curls spray soaking wet and upside down, and scrunch it in with a t-shirt until most of the extra moisture is gone. Many would say to leave it wetter than I do, but I can't stand the feel of super wet hair, blech! Once it's COMPLETELY EXTRA DRY I scrunch out the crunch and go. I also want to experiment with putting some root clips in while it's drying, but for now I'm only changing one thing at a time so I know for sure what works.

I wish I had the same curl and texture I used to, now that I know what to do with it, but we will see what happens. I am VERY happy with the results so far, I'll post an update down the road here.

OK, first pic is me with bedhead, straightened and lightened. Then is my attempt to go natural about 3 months ago. I swear I didn't brush it in that pic! It still looked like that when I started. The last three were taken tonight, 6 days CG!

85MR2 - it looks great - most people have issues with frizz with the change over and it looks like you don't. Your hair is adjusting just fine.

One thing you will find is that it's better to rinse out with a heavier better product then VO5 or Sauve as they are just used for finger friction while scrubbing your scalp and not for true conditioning. The purpose of a rinse it for the purpose of conditioning.

Keep up the great work and you will see your curls come back to life.

And the Suave and VO5 conditioners are being used to wash with. Well, mainly the VO5. I just got a bottle of GFTN for a rinse out. I was afraid I'd get weighed down using two conditioners like that, but no. The VO5 feels a lot like my old salon shampoo but without the lather and SLS. Super clean. The GFTN feels great afterwards. And they are both cheap. WIN.
