I don't have any pictures of my hair curly because as soon as I got out of the shower I always flat-ironed it. But I DO have a picture one month after into the CG method and stopping with the flat-ironing, and another months after.

First pic is 1month into CG method- it speaks for itself. Second pic is months after, and taking the red out and a new colour- I've never seen my curly hair like that, ever. Maybe it was me cutting off a LOT of my hair (Which is now above my chin), or more months into the CG method. Yeah, there still is some damage, but after looking at this picture, I now know that my hair WILL get better with time (:

OH, and last picture is what my hair looked like 15.4 years ago.

I've been doing this CG thing for a little over a month & have seen drastic results! I'm posting before/after pics. The first one is me at a special occasion. This was a 'good hair' day for me pre-CG. I worked really hard on my hair that day. Knowing what I know now, it looked awful! The other two are just days into the CG routine. I still didn't know what to do with my bangs, so they're straightened. I only did that for a few days, as I thought it looked ridiculous.

My hair looks even better now--I'll have to post more recent ones soon. Thanks NC.com & all my new curly friends!! As cheesy as it sounds, this has literally been a life-changing experience for me!

I used to have ringlets and they went to limp waves because I abused and straightened my hair so much. Two months into CG and my hair is way more curly than it was - and at the roots, where I've never messed with it, it's growing in in proper ringlets again. So it's definitely worth giving it a try. You should see improvement within a couple of weeks (some people get it right away, others find that their hair looks worse at first because it's adjusting), and then it will get better and better over the next few months.

Good luck!

Hi ladies,

First of all I want to say that you all have amazing curls! You made me want to start with cg. :-)

Secondly, I have a question: I've just started cg yesterday and I washed my hair with a conefree shampoo (but with sulfate) to get rid of all the cones in my hair.

I then washed it twice with Inecto coconut conditioner and as leave-in I used nivea flexible curls creme.

The result is excellent; I have much more volume and curls, but my hair is unfortunately SO dry and frizzy.. I wonder if I have done something wrong, or is this just because my hair has to get used to this method and I just have to be patient?

(ps. my mainlanguage isn't English, so don't mind the mistakes!)

Unfortunately, frizz is pretty common when starting the CG method. It is what people call the transition faze. It should get better with time.

Ok, thanks for ur answer! I should just have more patience, I guess. :-)

This is by the way my hair today. Yesterday I started cg and I think that there is already a HUGE difference. I unfortunately don't have a before-picture, but believe me.. my hair was a disaster! I thought I just have dry and ugly curls, so I always carried my hair in a ponytail.. But now I love my curls and this is only day 1!

In the FIA hairtyping, the letter is for hair texture (fine, medium, coarse) and the last bit is for density. So, 3 is the curl type, m is for medium, and iii means thick. You can have fine hair but lots of it, or coarse but not much. Knowing your hair properties can help determine what products will work better for you. HTH

Thanks, I now know I'm 3bfi

Hi everyone!
I absolutely love this site and forum! I didn't think I could get more out of my curls before I started CG, but even after the first co-wash, I saw such a difference!
Here are my pictures:
taken the morning before I started CG

how I usually wore it, since I had no idea what to do with it

the first week of CG

3rd week

3rd week, tied back

today, after I dyed it

I loved seeing all your pictures!

before i decided to embrace my curls, i used to completely straighten my hair each day as well as frequently bleach it, so it has suffered a lot of damage.

Before:
excuse the goofy face! i had stopped straightening it, but had no idea how to take care of curly hair or what products to use.

After a month or two:
as you can see, i was using too much product here

After 8 Months of CG (Yesterday):

i'm in need of a haircut to shape up the curls, but i can't believe how much shinier and healthier they look
there is no product in my hair besides a dime-sized dollop of Yes to Tomatoes conditioner.

Thumbs up

Wow everyone's hair looks soo good!
I've only been doing this for 5 days now.

I barely have any pics of my natural hair cuz I use to kill my hair with straightners.

and after

(still working on a good routine though.)

Also, what type of hair does it look like I have? I was thinking a 2c.
My hair is thick and coarse!

Brie, bravo to you for going CG! Stick with it, it'll be worth it.
It will be hard to type your hair until the straighteners work their way out of your hair. You may think you're a 2c but in a few months discover you are something entirely different. Your hair is very thick, and has a lot of body. It's going to be even more gorgeous once it gets over the "shock" of going CG! I can tell.

My hair hated the CG routine and resisted for months before accepting it. I love being CG now, and I've been CG for about 3 years.

Don't straighten it! One way I got past being frustrated with my hair in the begining when it wouldn't curl, is I got some nice spongy curlers, and wound my hair on the curlers and slept on them (with gel on my damp hair). No heat required, and when I took them out in the morning, I had nice spiral curls

Your hair is very beautiful, and the length is wonderful. Good luck!!

I have to take a post-CG pic to post too! But that thumbnail over there is me, pre CG.

That's awesome. I started because my straightner broke actually, and I was like OKAY I have to do something about my hair. It takes me like 2 hours to straighten it and it's soo time consuming. I got a hair cut, bleached it (damaged the top of my hair) and then discovered CG. The bottom is so soft and shiny, the top too but not nearly as shiny. My hair is pretty dry so I haven't experienced any problems with grease yet. The bottom of my hair is like thick twists. It looks like a twist sprial. It's weird cuz it's never done that. Usually it just kinda stayed frizzy and wavy. Never used product before, haha.
