This whole thread makes me want to give a shot at this whole CG she-bang. I wonder if it would work for me and my scalp issues.

I hate looking at all of these threads....you all make me so JEALOUS!!! I'm having a major case of curl envy. I just jumped onto the CG bandwagon. My hair isn't worthy of a before/after shot thread! For now, I'll just keep skimming (not posting pics!). You guys give me hope that my hair WILL get better as the CG thing wears on! Keep rockin' those curls.

What are your scalp issues, if you don't mind sharing?

curlyclo89 - Your pics you shared a few days ago in this thread aren't working for me...I don't know why! Mind sharing the links?

1. pre-cg after cutting the last relaxed ends, October 2008

2. pre-cg, July 2010

3. post-cg, November 2010

As you can see much longer over the years and much curlier/less poofy after CG

Well...that would be why they aren't working. You can't link something that is in your e-mail, since we don't have access to your e-mail. Try uploading to tinypic or photobucket or something?

Well since I've gone curly my scalp gets really dry now and beforehand when I used to perm my hair, I never dealt with really dry scalp. Now I do and it actually itches to the point where it hurts sometimes.

Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle has helped, but the itchies come back like 4-5 days later.

Hm... I alternate my co-washes between vo5 and Head and Shoulders Conditioner for Dry Scalp. I've looked up all the ingredients and there isn't anything bad in it. It's really helped me with dry itchy scalp - you should try it.

I've heard of a few other curlies that have had scalp issues, going CG and their scalp issues pretty much ended because both their hair and scalp is moisturized. I really want to give it a shot.

I've always had itchy scalp issues. My scalp is super dry and can get really flaky if i don't wash it decently often.

My only cure was doing tea tree oil scalp massages every other day and before every wash. Scalp issues all but totally gone. Feels great!

Default better second day hair

i've been cg for well over a month and i've found that i have BETTER SECOND DAY HAIR! whoo!

like, before it was flat and 3a-ish (i have 3b hair under the best conditions). but now, it's ACTUALLY 3b even after i'm sleeping on top of it :P

so for any of you who are even thinking about trying cg, this is something to consider...just saying

I think I might give that a shot and see where that leaves me.

Thanks My routine is pretty basic.
A handful of conditioner - favorite is Suave coconut - finger-combed through my hair, barely rinsed out (I run the water on it for about 3 seconds). Every other day or so I put a little bit of cocoa butter on the ends.
Then I squeeze out excess water/conditioner with my fingers, then scrunch with an old t-shirt. And then just a little clear gel scrunched in.
In the last picture my curls are slightly looser because I've started showering at night, and that makes my hair unpredictable - sometimes it's awesome and sometimes it's flat on one side and crazy on the other. But I'm a lazy college student and hate getting up to shower before my 9 am classes.
ok, so a couple of things. first of all, your hair is GORGEOUS. second of all, I totally hear you on the lazy college kid thing, and was wondering if you figured out anything that helped your hair look good consistently in the morning? and third of all, Nerdfighters FTW!!!

Default Here's Mine :)

I've been on & off CG since Feb because I couldn't get hold of the right products to use. But not anymore! I'm gonna go full CG since I've found a local supply of curl-friendly products recently yay!

too many photos, I know, LOL sorry

While I was transitioning I thought I had a uniformed 2c hair...but now I have no idea..I both have waves and curls. and my hair underneath is almost straight. Is that normal? Will I be expecting tighter curls in the future?

Looks really nice, whatever the number is. But don't worry so much about the number...pay more attention to your properties instead.

Default My Story

Pre-CG (this is a very old picture because I have so few with my hair down and not flatironed, and my hair is wet here):
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h7...ix/photo-1.jpg

Ok, so I've been sulfate-free for about a year, and it wasn't working for me. Took about seven or eight months until I realized cones were the problem. I ditched the cones but was still experiencing buildup -- polyquats!

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h7...0Pix/photo.jpg
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h7...-16at09292.jpg
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h7...1-16at0929.jpg

I did yet another sulfate cleanse, and now I'm down to CJ Daily Fix and jojoba oil because I don't want to take chances while still figuring out what sort of styling product I should use.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h7...-02at12582.jpg
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h7...1-02at1258.jpg

So basically what I'm trying to say is, uh, help? I can't even figure out what my type is because my hair has been crushed by bad products, mishandling, styling tools and even at home hair relaxer.
I don't know anything about my own hair. Where do I start?

Also, thanks for being such an amazing, encouraging community. I'm really touched by all of you <3

Start a new thread and we will help you out with your hair questions.
Or you can go to the Live Curly Live Free website. The have a service where you can mail strands of your hair in and they will figure out your hair's properties for you. For a few dollars more they will also give you a print out that gives you product suggestions for your hair based on its properties.

you are so pretty. If i was you.. i would try some FSG.. i just LOVE it, and nothing else does as good.. i make it myself and add agave nectar.. just a little, and that gives great hold.
Also i wouldnt worry too much about hair type, just find someone on here that looks like they have similar hair and nick all their HG's, that is what i did and it worked a charm. good luck!
