Yay For Gorgeous Curls!
WOW this is wonderful! What an encouragement. I just started the CG routine 3 days ago. This site is great!
I love this thread, cant wait to put my results up! Im only 3 days in but the difference is already pleasing :-)
Im doing it mainly for my daughter. She is even curlier than me and I dont want her to hate her curls like I did, and If i straighten my hair all the time, it wont be long before my toddler is a little girl crying in front of the mirror wanting to straighten out hers too!! no way!
___________________
3A, but I think it'll get to at least 3B after a while coz its already looking curlier. I still have flat wavy bits on the top tho. baby steps.
Super freakishly horribly porous from consistant colouring and blowdrying and straightening weekly.
Dry, Uneven layers, split ends and crying out for help!
not sure about elasticity yet, need to learn about it.
PRODUCTS:
(started 3 days ago and seeing results already)
- no poo whatsoever.
cleansing instead with conditioner mixed with 1 tbs of brown sugar. So far it Works a charm 2x a week. will also use the "Lemon Aid" method as I tried that a few yrs back and found it to be a great way to rid the build up.
- Have been using Biolage conditioner for dry damaged hair. Will be changing to DE LORENZO ALLEVI8 CONDITIONER tomorrow
- sunsilk clear gel that does not have silicone in it. Will switch to something better when I find it.

Warning: This is long lol, sorry.
I've been CG for about a month now and this is how far I've come...
Also, anyone have recs for a lightly moisturizing curl enhancer that works well without a LI?
Here we go. These are the curls I was born with:
I used to have long hair and I always BRUSHED it out to a big poof....
Eventually I got it chopped off because I was bored... This is actually a pic right after I came from the salon.
Aaaand here are my curls now, and my new Devacut (and 50 pounds lighter):

You and your curls are beautiful!! Don't get me wrong, I love my hair, but I would not be sad if one day I woke up and my curls were as tight as yours.
Also--you have great bone structure!

Thanks Emily! Is it wrong that I actually want TIGHTER curls? Haha. I guess we all want what we don't have, you know?

aliquot, you are just too cute - you and your hair! (Also, congrats on losing 50 pounds! What a great accomplishment!)
curlgalore, your transformation is stunning, too! You've gained so much definition - nice!

Lovely! May I ask what your styling routine is? How long is your shortest layer?...or shortest pieces on top? I ask because I cut my own hair and am searching for a good style.
As for the curl enhancer, I use kenra moisturizing conditioner as a leave in/curl cream. I love it. It may be a bit too moisurizing though unless you use just a little. I'm sure others would have better ideas. I'm just a conditioner girl.

curry curls - Umm yes the shortest layers are on top, she did a good job blending the layers. I've had cuts before where it looked like I had a SHELF of hair on top and one on the bottom. Horrible. She cut the back pretty short so there is a lot of volume back there, much more than at the front. I think I wish she had done something with my long pieces in the front, but now I am too afraid to cut them myself.
I'd say that my shortest layer on top, when stretched, actually reaches my jaw, but when allowed to curl, only goes to about the top of my ear.
As far as styling goes, when I am done in the shower I put in just a touch of leave-in (currently KCKT) and flip over upside-down. I usually comb my hair at this point with a wide-tooth away from my head to get everything oriented correctly (towards the floor) then I rake and scrunch in Jessicurl CCSS (I only have a sample and but I am looking for something better). Then usually I rake in only a bit of KCCC near the roots (I hate crunchy roots), and scrunch in the rest to the length of my hair.
This is all done while my hair is very wet, I only squeeze out the excess a bit before starting. After all of this, I plop for only about 15 minutes while I get dressed. This time is enough for my microfiber to soak up just enough so it isn't dripping anymore, and gives me some volume on top. Then I just shake a bit so all my clumps fall into place. I never arrange my clumps, I just let them fall to whichever side they want. Later when it is dry, I scrunch the crunch.
That sounds long...but it really is not horrible, lol.

So I am only a few weeks into the process of embracing my curly hair but I thought I'd do before and after pictures to keep myself motivated. I used to flat iron my hair every week for about 7 years. Now I am putting the flat iron away for good.

After, about 3 weeks into the CG process:
Hopefully my curls will just keep getting better!

Thanks. If I let my hair fall where it wanted to, I'd have (to coin a phrase I learned on this site) a "hot mess". I used to plop. Now, I just blot and do the upside down combing. I should start plopping again...maybe when my hair is longer. I just chopped off a bunch to get a better style and to get rid of some of this henna.
Thanks again for your routine!

curry curls - No problem! I used to not be able to plop because it would give me terrible frizz on top, but since using the KCKT/KCCC combo it has helped with that a lot. I only don't arrange my clumps because if I do it tends to break them up and give me frizz...and I also have a tendency to make things too "neat" and give myself a flat head. Oops.

Hi, this is my first post here! I started the CG routine around April. My hair got pretty long and unmanageable, and I ended up shampooing and ironing again briefly about 2 months ago, but I just got a Devacut and am trying to embrace my curls again! So it's probably been a month and a half since I started CG again.

If my hair was longer, I think you would be my hair twin... volume and all!
