The first pick is right after cutting off all of my chemically relaxed ends. Second was just before starting the CG method.

I'm currently in my 3rd week of doing the CG method. Last 3 weeks have really made a huge difference in my curls as you can see in the last 3 pictures. So far I'm loving it! I can't wait until the full 6weeks has taken place to see results then!

I am trying the curly girl method of ‘adjusting’ my hair.
The back story…
The absolute minute I hit puberty my hair went from shinny, slightly wavy and manageable to coarse, wiry and unmanageable and it happened overnight! That’s when I started to hate my hair. There was nothing I could do… or it seemed so. When I was 12, (which is the age I hit puberty) I could braid it or put it in pony tails or whatever camouflaged the frizz. As I grew older into my mid teens 14, 15, 16 etc…, I tried everything at the time…all the hair products that claimed to give me beautifully manageable hair…all full of hot air =(…we’re talking the mid 70’s here… there actually was nothing back then to even suggest a way to deal with my hair. I’d apply the products and in the shower my hair felt amazing, soft and beautiful…but then it would dry into a frizzy messy disgusting lifeless stiff mane. I tried perms… I know it sounds funny but it seemed like a way to at least make the frizz and coarseness manageable, but one bad perm after another…I looked like a fried poodle =( Then the 80’s brought ‘mousse’ that was just as bad… it looked good when my hair was wet but then it dried into a frizzy mess or dried into what looked and felt like stiff spiral spaghetti . I tried blow drying, I tried curling irons. It would look great when I was done… that was until I stepped outside and PING all my hair would turn to frizz immediately.
Over the years I have just gotten by, sometimes having really good hair days, if the days were not filled with humidity but those are few and far between. When you’re 12 braids are easy to get away with but when you’re 47…not so much. I returned to perms but now I just get mild body waves left in for only a few minutes as my hair takes a curl very easily and can fry in a split second. NOTE: If I get body waves or perms am I still considered ‘Naturally Curly’?
If you’re following the naturallycurly.com hair typing system, I believe my hair (if left to its own devises) is between a 2b and 2c. I don’t have a lot of volume and mass, my hair in fact can look very thin (depending on what type of hair day I’m having)…I wasn’t blessed with thick hair although at times it can also have an appearance of thickness as well. My hair is schizoid. Someone once told me what beautiful thick hair I had (must have been a good hair day =)…then she touched it and realized it wasn’t as thick as it appeared and was very surprised.
Last year while watching the Wen infomercial it seemed like the light at the end of the tunnel but then I found out how much it cost and how much had to be applied and how long it had to be left in blah blah blah. It would break the bank. Well I ended up buying the Sally Beauty Supply version of Wen which is ‘Hair One’ Olive Oil for dry hair and is sulfate free. I had used it for about 9 months and it actually gave my hair better texture but still I wasn’t getting the soft curls. (I guess the problem is the ‘cones’ it has in it). I was still adding more product, i.e. ‘Curls Up’ by FX in an attempt to control the frizz (which also has the ‘cones’ but no sulfates). I also had taken to putting on a shower cap and using a blow dryer while wearing the cap to dry it faster in an attempt to control frizz. This also seemed to give my hair a little more softness but this still wasn’t enough. Still it felt coarse dry and wiry when it was completely dry. My hair still wasn’t soft.
The last couple of months I have taken to blow drying my hair straight but my hair is now extremely dry…I’m deflated, so in a last ditch effort I’m going to try the curly girl method. Tonight I washed my hair with a sulfate shampoo mixed with a table spoon of baking soda to completely ‘clean’ the residue from my hair . I massaged that for a minute or two then rinsed, then I rinsed some more with a mixture, cup warm water and cup Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) to counter the baking soda, then I rinsed the ACV out, then I applied a ‘Pure Life’ Lavender Conditioner and left it in for a couple of minutes. I don’t have a wide tooth comb yet so I used a pick to comb in the conditioner, then I rinsed a little with cool water, leaving in a little of the conditioner. I then blotted my hair with a t shirt to get out the excess water, then I scrunched in a little of the conditioner and because I don’t have a long sleeve t shirt to ‘plop’ I used a long sleeve turtle neck to plop on my head which I guess I’ll leave on overnight and see how it turns out. My hair is layered and only just above my shoulders when I leave it curly. I don’t have a web cam so I will have to take a picture with my cell in the morning so I can fully document whatever happens to my hair, good or bad. thanks for reading my tale =)

Here are the pic's from my first day

I know I keep posting in here, tooting my own horn or whatever Call me hair-narcisstic or whatever but I had the best hair day I've ever had Saturday and just CAN'T get over the transformation. Coming to this site has been the best thing I've done for myself in a long time, maybe ever. It's taught me to accept so many things about myself, beyond just my hair. And it's made bad hair days (like today ) more tolerable because I know what is possible and what my hair can do.

I just started CG a week ago when I stumbled upon here. I fell in love with all the gorgeous naturally curly hair. It made me want to embrace my curls. I know it will take a while because i had a blowout done on it awhile back... but I already see a difference! I can't wait to have the gorgeous bouncy curls some of you girls have!

More after CG my phone camera didn't do the pics any justice but its more more curlier just still having issues maintaining moisture " I use tresemme natural or maybe I need heavier conditioner or better leave in, my hair is so dry it wont talk gel so anyone want to help me out?? While my hair is wet, its pretty soft but dry dried lol. A good CG product for type four 4 will be good unless my hair is damage and I need a cut. Any suggestions is very welcome because I'm in desperate need of help lol

So I started CG a week ago after watching Waterlily716's videos, and then found this site and this thread! The first 2 pics are from my last sulfate shampoo, a cone free condish and no product so you can really see how dry and dull my hair was. The last two I just took 10 mins ago. All that's in my hair is come KCKT and gel. Both I just air-dried. Sorry for the horrible lighting, my bathroom has the weirdest lights haha.

What do you think?

Also, what curl type would you say I have?

^^ I see a huge change in definition and shine Nice job! I see a mix of waves and some pretty, loose spirals. Maybe a 2b/3a mix.
