These are my before pictures. I actually stopped straightening it everyday back in the 11-12 grades. I got lazy and really didn't want to spend an hour or two trying to straighten it. I did straighten my bangs every day and the hair framing my face. So these had the most heat damage. I also color my hair a lot. :X

And these are my after pictures. I'm missing pics from weeks 3 and 4. I think I'm going on CG around week 5 or 6. I didn't really notice when I decided to go CG.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if you could REALLY tell or not until I was comparing pictures. I definitely have more definition and less frizz. If only I had found nc.com sooner. :]

Okay I may sound super duper dumb but how do you "clarify" your hair before starting CG??? I've wanted to start but I'm not sure how!!

^^ I did one last wash with a sulfate shampoo that doesn't contain silicones.

Hi Nona,

I also live in Germany, and was wondering if you could tell me what products you use. Are there a lot of CG- friendly products here?

Thanks!!

I am so happy to read about CG, I did my first CO-wash 2 days ago and the result is just crazy! I'm still not sure about my hair type. I think 2c, but it could get more curly after a few weeks more with the CG method.

The first picture is before CG and air-dried hair. horrible!
The other two pictures are after the first CO wash and second hair day.

You use a shampoo that has sodium lauryl sulfate (the harshest), ammonium layreth sulfare (also harsh), and sodium laureth sulfate (a little gentler). There are also many ingredients out there, when they end in -fates, that is a sulfate.

I messed up my CG journey and I had to start all over again. I washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo that has both sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate. It was harsh on my hair, obviously, but I had to use it to remove the silicones in my hair that I unknowingly placed in these past several days.

After that wash, I use my VO5 Moisture Milks Strawberries and Cream Conditioner. It is very cheap and CG friendly (has no silicones and no sulfates in it).

Good luck!

Default YAY!

So this pic I took a couple days ago, so I guess I'm like 5 or 6 weeks CG. I can't believe the difference! I'll also post a before for comparison's sake.

The one of just my hair is before.

Honestly it would probably be fine... You are not marrying the CG method!

I straighten my hair sometimes, but the longer I go without, the better it looks wavy so I feel like I have less reason to straighten it. But you can still use plenty of CG tips even if you straighten it (t-shirt instead of towel, silicone-free, sulfate-free, comb in the shower, etc.)

I have been trying out the CG method for about 3 months now and I'm loving it! I never thought my hair had this much potential. Below, there are several pre-CG pics and several that show the evolution of my hair since starting CG!

Pre-CG:

Post-CG:

1 week 4 weeks 8 weeks

Thanks! I've been using GFTN (old formula) but since that's discontinued now I'll have to find something else.

Thanks! I wish I could help but my hair actually does not grow fast. A lot of the "before" pictures were years old because I had such difficulty finding photos where my hair wasn't up in a bun...
