You are course and highly porous?? That's not common! It certainly doesn't look "very coarse" in those pics!!

Next weekend will mark a full 6 months since I started (modified) CG. First pic is what I considered an awesome hair day before I ever heard of CG. I was using Deva products, but didn't know anything about good technique (i.e. I was still using a towel, plus one silicone-filled anti-frizz serum). Second pic is the day before I did my final clarifying shampoo. Had just found this site and was playing around with plopping my hair (still using that cone-filled serum- at that point I had figured out that I had definite cone buildup, but I was away at a conference so I continued to use what I had with me).
Third pic is about 1 week into CG. Fourth pic is after the Devacut, about a week ago.

No- I tried using again after I got the hang of things but after trying other products I just wasn't impressed with Deva anymore. I use ArcAngel sometimes but that's about it.

I depends on what you're looking for. I love CJ cleansers and conditioners. I haven't been impressed with their styling products yet, but I haven't tried enough of them that I can really write off the entire product line. I find CJ Daily Fix to be more moisturizing than No-Poo and Beauticurls ROs have amazing slip.

Ok I'm looking for a really moisturizing conditioner for medium texture hair with good slip and protein free. I was thinking of CJ or deva

after two weeks and the big chop
A couple of days post-CG conversion (this was the best hair day I'd had in years):

Two weeks post CG and the Big Chop:

I am getting compliments on my hair that I haven't heard in years and I have accumulated so many products that I'll be in a 12-step group for it soon enough.
If you had told me a month ago that my hair would soon be a source of pleasure, not pain and frustration, I would have asked you for the drugs you were taking.
Have a great night, everyone. Be good to your hair.

3 month "curly-versary"
In honor of my 3 months mark tomorrow, here are my pics:
1st is day 2/3 of CG. My avatar and the 2nd pic are from about one month in. 3rd pic is from 2 weeks ago.
Undecided curlies who may be reading this: I didn't want to just post my one best hair day ever that could never be reproduced. I am getting consistent results with this method and get good hair almost every day. I have almost daily photos from my 3 months to prove it to myself

Just GORGEOUS lady!! Beautiful! Your curl pattern reminds me of mine only mine is and never was nowhere near that long, & when it was BSL it was stringy. Makes me wanna grow it out again!! Congrats on an amazing head of curls

Simply gorgeous curls Marci! If I had consistently lovely hair like that every day, I'd be doing cartwheels!

Thanks lcl0706, I've had such fun with the long "princess" hair but yes it does get stringy with the length. I found that my hair hates raking and scrunching, or any extra manipulation. That tends to make it stringy with weird skinny clumps. So now I smooth my product in sections and just barely cup it with a tshirt to get out extra moisture. I am not sure if there is a thread about one technique vs the other.
And BTW, have you ever typed your hair? I have all kinds of curls in there, spirals and some kinks and if I don't put in gel I get soft waves. It's not curly, or wavy, or straight lol.
Thanks Jas76!
And proudcurlygirly too
I am still amazed when I look in the mirror. Even when I get a bad hair day I know it's not my hair that's inherently bad. I just had the wrong products/techniques/whatever. I still get chased with a flatiron sometimes, I live in Miami after all, and not many people are into curls.
