does anyone squeeze the water out of hair...

I have long hair almost to my waist, wavy to curly, and I hate having it soaking wet all over me. So after rinsing the conditioner out of my hair with my head flipped over I gently squeeze out the water then apply gel.

Another reason I do this is because if I leave it soaking wet even with some mild plopping, all the water on my hair weighs it down stretching out the curl.

Does anyone try to remove excess water before applying products?
Yes, and I thought I was the only one. The lone rebel towel dryer. With a normal terrycloth towel, no less.
Oh Riot not terrycloth!!

I do squeeze out the water. To me that is still "soaking" wet. Maybe it's not technically, but my hair is like a sponge and still feels soaking wet when it's squeezed out.

I go back and forth with towel drying. Sometimes I squeeze out the extra water with my hands and sometimes I do this ---> before I add products. I haven't found anything that works consistantly and throwing my hair in a turban makes it take less time to air dry.

before i leave the shower i squeeze the water out of my hair gently.

next, i put numerous of conditioner & a plastic cap over my head.

then, i walkout of the shower.

no towel dry (my hair is naturally dehydrate, so i need the extra moisture. plus i don't want any conditioner on my towel.)

I scrunch out the water from my hair with a tshirt, then apply products, and then plop.

Riot's too cool for us conformists.
I squeeze the water out of my hair, do the "shake" (remember that technique?), then wrap it gently in a microfiber towel for a few minutes. Then I unwrap it and apply styler and then gel. This method works just fine for me. I couldn't stand to deal with soaking wet hair all the time.
I have 3A hair. I've discovered Jessicurl shampoo and Too Shea conditioner and I'm thrilled! Long-time LA Looks sport gel user.
I do; it really helps speed drying time, and the product doesn't get too diluted that way.

I rinse out conditioner, squeeze my hair as dry as possible with my hands, then flip my head over and press gently w/ a terrycloth towel to get more water out. Then, I wrap it in a thin towel and put it in a turban for 20 minutes. I then take it out, spray with leave-in, comb or brush, add styler, and the comb or brush again, then go on as usual.

In the winter it's especially crucial since I try to shower in the mornings and have to walk all over a cold campus.
Like the rebels Riot and Angular, I too squeeze out extra water in terrycloth briefly before the leave-in and gel, and plop in a t-shirt lined microfibre turban. I just have too. I can't stand the dripping everywhere...

I also squeeze out water because otherwise it just drips down my back. Then I had product and plop...although I've been contemplating adding product and then plopping just to see if I get a different result...oh well...play...play...play...

I can't stand to have dripping wet hair---makes me cold!! And my hair is so thick that I have to squeeze excess water out, or I'll NEVER get it dry! I've noticed that I actually get better results with my stylers when I don't apply to dripping wet hair.
Somewhere between a 2c & 3a
Liking:
-Suave Naturals or VO5 (co-wash)
-GVP Conditioning Balm (conditioner)
-L'Oreal Vive Pro Nutrigloss (conditioner)
-Giovanni Direct Leave-in or GVP Conditioning Balm as leave-in
-Flax seed gel (my favorite right now)
-KCCC
-Biotera Gel
-HETT mousse
I have bangs now, and I love 'em!
I definitely squeeze out excess water. That way my hair only takes 8-9 hours to dry.
I've gone back to soaking wet hair; I just seem to get better results that way. I squeeze my hair gently once after rinsing out my conditioner so it's still dripping and while still in the shower I scrunch in whatever products I'm using. By the time I finish with the scrunching, I'm not really drippy anymore. I have a chair that I put my plopping towel on that I pull right up to the shower, so as soon as I get out I go right into the plop and then finish drying myself off.

So, Angular, in my curly trials and tribulations, I tried plopping in a t-shirt, but found it was not easy to secure. I found a microfibre turban, and found it really easy to use and secure, but it caused terrible frizz as my hair got caught in all the textured, grippy cloth. Ever the innovator (and stubborn), I cut up my t-shirt, lined the turban and pinned it in with safety pins, since I don't sew. Voila, my friend. Perfect, secure plop towel.

I might have to try that microfiber t-shirt trick now (goes off to find t-shirt she hates enough to rip, possibly one from ex-bf).
I also gently squeeze out the water, apply CK, then wrap gently and loosely in an aquis towel. Dry off my body, then take off towel and apply gel if needed.

I squeeze & squeegee my hair, then blot it if I feel it's still too wet, before putting gel or cream in.
Yeah, I squeeze out all the water I can before applying products. Not only do I hate drippage (it's cold!) but my hair seems to be fine with it and I can still get good distribution. As far as I'm concerned, my hair is still wet enough even after all the squeezing.

After I apply product, I use a Curl-Ease towel to absorb even more water. I diffuse after that.
