Curly hair emergency!

as soon as i get out of the shower, my hair looks like this http://images.allmoviephoto.com/2007..._proof_005.jpg

and its really smooth and nice looking, but as it air dries, no matter how many pounds of sculpting wax or hair cream i put in it, my hair shrinks up like this!

im guessing that since its still wet, the water is weighing it down, so how do i get it to look like the 1st pic after it dries so i can wear it down?
Curly hair shrinks. After it dries you can blast your roots with a diffuser, or stretch your hair back in a scrunchi for 5 minutes to loosen it.

I think both photos show beautiful hair, but the first is 3b and the second is 3c-4a. I find it ironic that you chose as the second photo an nc.com member who has gorgeous hair. While I love the first photo and wish I looked like her at any time in my life, I prefer the hair in the second photo, shrinkage and all. But that's just me.

What's that Newtonian law of physics -- a body in motion tends to stay in motion? I think the curlier hair is, the curlier it tends to be.

Playing with my hair is a hobby. Fluffy, fine natural 4a. Goal= Healthy, beautiful hair that retains its length.
Hear that crash? It's me falling off the CG wagon.
As sbb said, curly hair shrinks. One can reduce this shrinkage a little bit, and some use KCCC for this.

But, if you have curly hair, it shrinks. It's part of having the hair.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
