Help?

When I first started CG, I used Pantene Moisturizing Curls and I loved it. When I ran out, I had read by then that Moisturizing Curls wasn't the best, so I tried Nature's Gate and Giovanni conditioners, neither of which I felt were moisturizing enough. So off to the store I went about two weeks ago and got Suave Lavender CO. The first week I liked it, but this week (this past week anyway) I've used it like I've done with my other CO's and yet it was really oily at the roots. Yesterday morning I tried using more friction than normal and even rinsed twice as much as I usually do, but all that came of it is that my hair was REALLY bad yesterday afternoon. So I rinsed it throughly again (just used lots of water and friction, no co or anything) and last night my hair was an oily mess. I'm not using a whole lot at all, maybe a tablespoon. My ends are REALLY curly, but my roots are a problem. Is it the Suave? What should I do?

Have you tried an apple cider vinegar rinse? If not, that is where I would start to clear up the roots.

Did you change any other part of your hair routine? If not, it does sound like the Suave may be the culprit. I would use another product and see if the "symptoms" improve. I use the Suave Naturals Coconut and have no problems. Did you check the ingredient list for the lavender? Is it CG?

Could it be that you need a lighter conditioner in the summer months?
Growing out my curls. White hair, fine to medium texture but a lot of it. Low to medium porosity. Botticelli curls -- 2c/3a mix. My hair loves protein.

The first CG conditioner I used was the Suave Naturals Coconut one. When I ran out, I decided to try the Lavender one, and my hair does seem more oily and less curly. I checked the ingredients, and they are basically the same except for a few slight differences.

I plan on going back to the Coconut one soon.

I would also add that strange as it may sound, conditioners have surfactant qualities, which means that they can act to remove oil and dirt. So, even though it might sound counterintuitive to scrub your head with conditioner, it may actually help to dissolve the grease you're experiencing at your roots.
