OMG! Pineapple and Hair Sock NIRVANA!

I don't know who developed the pinepple method but WOW. (I'm sure it was some very clever woman on this forum.) But I have to say it is the best "free" thing that's happened to my hair since CG!!!

I'm on Day 3 hair and there's been humidity of 80+ for the past 3 days. I'm not sure what it does but my hair actually looked better yesterday and today than it did day 1. Bigger clumps and less fly-away frizzes - so far anyway.

I'm going to dare to say I'm as close as to hair nirvana as I've ever been!

Also bought the Hot Sock last weekend. My hairstylist had tried one on me a couple weeks ago and I hated it but saw SO many rave reviews that I decided to try it. I've used the pixiecurl diffusing method for the past 8 or 9 months. The Hot Sock works so much better! My hair no longer goes east and west as Lorraine describes it. The curls hang down in very shiny, clumpy spirals.

A HUGE thanks to everyone on this site for passing along tips and information about new products. I never would've tried (or even heard of) these things without you all.

I wanted to post some pictures but my camera is broken.

If I can find someone to take some pictures at the BBQ later today, I'll post them tonite.

Stupid question, but I'm going to be traveling for a few months and am just not clear on how to use the hot sock. Any suggestions?
"Well I love that dirty water. Oh, Boston, you're my home!"
I followed the video on the Jessicurl site. Since going CG, I never wanted to try the method because you have to touch your hair. But MsGiblet said that's pretty much how she does it and her hair always looks amazing so I thought I'd give it a try.

As long as I only scrunch until about 50% dry I get no frizz at all. The first time I tried it I dried too long and ended up with much frizz but still looked pretty good.

I also let my hair air-dry for about 10 or 15 min before blowdrying to "set" it.

I love the hot sock. I use both the diffuser and the hot sock. I air dry while I put on my makeup then diffuse for a bit getting the really wet spots, then use the hot sock to finish off and scrunch the crunch. I seem to get better curl with the hot sock, probably because it blows my hair around less.

I'm so glad for you whatsercurl! I so agree, this site is amazing. I have learned so much from everyone. Who'da thought hair was so complex!

Now this hot sock thing....seems like something I WANT to add to my "must have list". Is it just an attachment for a regular blow dryer?

I did not have a scrunchy handy one night so instead of resorting to a claw clip I used a wrist sweat band instead and I loved it. It's just the right size and I like how it is wide, getting my hair further away from my face. It looks really funny though!

And the hot sock is something like the foam covers you see on head phones for cell phones and MP3 players only thicker and bigger. Fits on any blow dryer from what I can tell and so much more portable than a diffuser.

I got my hot sock from Jessicurl's website. I would assume Sally's had them but since I didn't realize I had one nearby I just ordered it when I was ordering other stuff. The Jessicurl one just slides over the end of my hair dryer.

I just wanted to add that I've been using
http://www.walgreensespanol.com/stor...&id=prod363701
to pineapple, and I love them. It's so much less wear and tear on my curls. I got mine at Wal-mart and they're actually a little larger than the ones in the picture.

I know, me either, but I just kept thinking how great they would be. And I haven't been disappointed. I've even worn them- gasp- out in public now. I'm a frizz queen and these have really helped.
I followed the video on the Jessicurl site. Since going CG, I never wanted to try the method because you have to touch your hair. But MsGiblet said that's pretty much how she does it and her hair always looks amazing so I thought I'd give it a try.

I really have the best luck using the bowl diffuser first so I can use the fingers to push my hair up at the roots and then finishing up with the hot sock.

I still giggle when I think of what non-curlies would think of some of the bizarre questions we ask and tips we share on here.

I do the same thing as in the jessicurl video -- I start off upside down and then lean side to side. Not for too long, though, or I'll get frizz. Then I stay upright to finish. -- jeez, I feel like I sound like a chimpanzee every time I use the word "upright".

I tried this today. Worked really well. We'll see how the day progresses - it's even warmer and more humid than the last few days.

Oh and I did manage to keep from dragging my knuckles on the ground but just barely.

I used both diffusers again today and have no frizz or flyaways at all. This really does work well. I can get my hair "set" the way I want it with the bowl diffuser, as well as get some volume set in, and then finish with the sock.
