Why Jessicurl Whyyyyyyyy?

For a few days now, I've been using Rockin' Ringlets with CK on top of that and a firm hold gel on top of that and it's been working great. No frizzies except for yesterday when the wind and the rain was hellacious and the wind got me before my hair was completely dry.

Oh I just love the Jessicurl products. It does control my frizz very well and I can even get 3 day hair. I don't over condition, due to my hair being fine. I wash with HCCC, then rinse most of it out. I apply RR (quite a bit) upside down and right side up in wet hair and wrap my hair in the curlese towel for about 10 minutes. Then I put in the CCSS, upside down and right side up and diffuse upside down to get some volume, but just a little, maybe 5 minutes. Then do not touch, scrunch, or anything until completely dry. I get great curls without much frizz and the volume is great after it drys. When it is drying, it looks like it is going to be flat, but is not. Love it!! Maybe you need to use more product and less conditioner? All hair is different. Good Luck.

I know that's nothing compared to what my fellow curlies have to cope with on the other side of the Atlantic, but that's hot and humid for us! It will probably rain as it's the tennis season and Wimbledon is in full swing.

Wait a sec...so some of you use CCSS and RR together?

I've been using CCSS with LA gel on top. Do you like the combo? How's it different from just using CCSS?

A lot of curlies here, including myself, like to use them separately. Using them together doesn't seem to work very well for me, although when it does, I love it!

I just adapt to the weather, but do find when I use enough product I usually don't have to worry too much about the frizz. I believe for me, it is when you are drying it that causes the frizz. My hair may get poofier, but usually not frizzier. I pineapple at night, so that takes care of the poof and any surface frizz I might get throughout the day. Remember I have fine hair that I color and highlight, so I use probaby one quarter size of the RR for upside down application and one quarter size right side up. I use probaby about the same with the CCSS. So if you have thick hair, it might be different. When I apply the RR the hair is very wet from the shower, I then wrap in curlese towel (I believe this helps with the frizz also) for 10 minutes. Then I put in the CCSS, so it is more concentrated not on real wet hair. The key is to not touch, scrunch, or anything until completely dry. This is hard to do. When my hair is drying it looks like it is going to be flat, but when it is completely dry it is not. Good Luck.
The way I use mine is I was with HCC condition with the too Shea rinse then I apply the aloeba as my leave then proceed with the RR and the CCSS, I get good hair with this, but I tend not to use the products during the summer months, I don't know why, I will have to try it again. I change my products daily LOL.....

I am not sure if I am up trying the RR before the CK and our weather is much dryer today so the results could be deceiving.

It sure does make me look like I have a lot of hair though (trying to look on the bright side).

It seems my hair frizzes more if it is softer or conditioned alot.
Thanks for the reply curly2 I was just amazed you leave a cleansing product in your hair. I guess it really isnt as strong as regular shampoo though. It amazes me all the different routines people use on their hair.
xcptnl, I feel your pain - I honestly do! Anytime magsulfate breathes on my hair, it looks so so pretty...for two hours. Then it begins this horrendous transformation that cannot be stopped once started, and the underside in back starts to lace itself tighter and tighter, weaving together into a solid carpet of tangles that feels like a merino wool sweater that got sent through the dryer and fried crisp. Since I refuse to get my hair wet when it's like that (because I know it can only get worse at that point), I absolutely must brush out the tangles before attempting to fix it, and it takes FOR-FREAKING-EVER, even with my Goody Ouchless paddle brush (a tool I will not live without!). And then, I have to use a literal lake of condish and a healthy puddle or two (I have long, thick locks, so I need a LOT) of one of my chosen hair oils applied while sopping wet, and an overnight plop to make it feel remotely normal again.

So yeah - I understand. You may just have to do what I did, and resign yourself to that fact that no matter what you do to tweak your routine, and no matter what you use with RR or CC, the magsulfate will rear it's ugly head and ruin your otherwise good hair day.

BB, I think you are absolutely right. I used to be able to stand magnesium sulfate, then it gave me halo frizz, so I stopped. However ... *lately* when I have used my Jessicurl stylers, I get exactly what you are describing. I think of acetate when I touch my hair after a few hours. It's horrible. I have been loading on the aloe vera gel in the evening to alleviate the feeling and it helps a lot, but I can see where your remedy would be even better.

What a shame we can't use this stuff. It makes such pretty curls!
