Good clumping ---bad texture

So I know usually discussion is on frizziness, curl pattern and other talks, but not much is on the feel of hair aside from crunchy and how to make it feel soft.

Today I clarified my hair with white vinegar mixed with water and combed it in the showed with a comb rather than brush and used suave condish. I applied suave strawberry condish as leave-in and used LOOB and some CG friendly cream. Now I have 3a/3b curls and clumped nicely probably, because of the white vinegar, the weather and my hair changes, but I hate the texture. The texture is not crunchy but has a product-like and straw feel to it.

Usually in the wintertime, I apply cream to my hair and it gets nice and soft, feeling natural. During the summer, when it actually looks decent, I want my hair to feel good too, but do not know what to apply to it. I have a party to go to and do not want to be self-conscious of anyone touching my hair. Any suggestions?
Ack! I get that producty/straw feeling too!! I hope someone has the answer for you because even JC N&S doesn't take that way. It takes out the "crunch", but it still feels not soft. At the end of the day when my kids have completely trashed my hair and it's all frizzy and pulled out THEN it feels soft.

Yeah, I notice when my hair gets soft in the summer, it looks like a monster living on top of my head. Hair is sort of like food; if food looks good people want to eat it, but if it looks bad people usually do not want to eat it. Similarly, if hair looks good that is when they want to touch it.
I've never personally experienced this until I'm on 3rd or 4th day hair. However, it sounds like what I've seen others with protein sensitivty post as issues.

Could be the products you're using. Yesterday, I didn't think my hair was curly enough with Giovanni Direct LI and KCCC, but it was very soft. I sprayed a little Aveda Aloe/Flax Gel on dry hair and it felt like the hairspray of yesteryear. Really terrible. I rinsed under the sink, but couldn't get all the product out. I used the Alagio Curl Creme and B & A gel--it was much softer, but a little producty. Today, after a cowash I did a little Giovanni LI, Alagio CC, KCCC and BRHG--it's very soft and not frizzy despite high humidity.
