Due to the numerous wildfires here in Cali the air is so bad we're coughing, sneezing, have a sort of burning sensation in our chests, itchy-red-swollen-watery eyes, even bouts of nausea. Which is why it is not uncommon to see people walking around with dust masks on their faces. I couldn't go to work today because my left eye was swollen shut!!! Of Course one of my supervisors(I'm one too, but anyway...) told me that it is probably just because it is early in the morning and that it will probably get better and if it does to come in because she has to cover for me. Especially when I worked all five days last week when I was sick and didn't call in!!! What a dork.

It's effecting animals too. They say the animals are being brought to vets lethargic, having breathing difficulties and irritated eyes. We went to the movies yesterday in Monterey(about 8 miles away) and since it's closer to Big Sur where another fire is it was raining ashes. Please pray for some rain....without lightning!!!!

It's also making my hair rather crappy and frizzy too!!!

Oh my goodness, marinacurlz, how terrible. This site is probably a good distraction for you during this time.

I'm sorry to hear things are so terrible -- the news presents one view but it's rarely accurate. I hope your eye gets better, but most of all, I hope the fires are contained soon.

Sending good thoughts your way....

It's amazing, yet sad, to think of how many people and animals this is affecting.

I hope that things get better for you all out there.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
I'm keeping us all in my prayers. I had a similar thread going on the non-hair board last week. My son was camping in it too, he said it was smoky the whole time.

Our allergies have been bad too. I hope you feel better soon.

Yes, pray for rain.

Aww, that's awful! I keep hearing about this on the news; it's so different when you know someone affected (even when that someone is only an online friend). I'll rub my lucky Buddha's belly for you after I unpack him tomorrow.
I definitely have you in my thoughts! I'm your next door neighbor over here in Tucson, AZ and we even had a wildfire today in the mountains. A couple weeks ago it was real bad and I had to shut all my windows b/c the smoke was so heavy. I really hope things clear up out there. My SO has relatives in that area. It sucks b/c I've never been to California and we were going to go visit sometime this month. I don't know if that will happen now. I hope your eye gets better and I hope and pray we both get some rain without lightening!

Yep, I'm in the Bay Area. My son was up in the Willits area, they had fires there too. We're burning all up and down our coast here.

Sending good thoughts and hoping for rain for you. I find bushfires absolutely terrifying, something I haven't got used to since coming to Oz.
Sending you good thoughts w/ hopes of swift improvement!
