So how many actually do CG now?

I am curious. It seems like less people do it here on the board than it used to be. I might be wrong.

Other -- I use shampoo w/gentle sulfates once/week, mostly on the scalp. I rinse or condition-wash in between. I usually don't use cones but don't avoid them like the plague if they aren't bad ones. :) I don't use any of the CG concoctions as they strip my color. I guess I use some CG ideas, but I really already had this routine before CG came around.

That is kinda what I do right now.

Other, I call myself modified cg usually but it's similar to the other posters above. I guess what's similar to cg is I don't use the sulfate-containing shampoo more than about once or twice a week. I've also been trying to avoid cyclo -ane (you know the cone) and other non-water soluble cones. I haven't decided yet if these modifications will work for me long term.

What about you, Kurlee? :)

laurabeth33 12-30-2005 11:36 PM

Yeah, I would call myself "modified" in that I, like lazykerri, avoid cyclopentasiloxane like the plague, conditioner wash most of the week, and poo with a sulfate-containing poo roughly once a week.

I'm also really hyper-aware of ingreds in a CG-aware kind of way, but you already knew that.

Ditto! except that I use a sulfate-containing poo every 4 weeks or so.

itsjustmeghan 12-31-2005 06:46 AM

i voted no CG.
i use a sulfate shampoo when i need it on my roots/scalp. while i do only use one conditioner and a little set it free to style my hair, i probably wouldn't be afraid to try new styling products with cones or whatever. i'm pretty much at the point where i go with what works!
but for now? my occasional wash with baby shampoo, conditioner and SIF is still working famously, so i'll stick with those.
:D

Yup, met too. I use a (laureth) sulfate containing poo only about 1x/mo, and do lo-poo or HCC 1-2x/week. I study the ingredients of everything before I purchase now... though I am currently pretty much sticking solidly to the Deva line.

My modified is sometimes sulfates, never any silicones (the opp. of the above modified choice.) Once a month I use Kelate shampoo to get rid of any hard water deposits and any residue. I have been using Suave tropical coconut condish to wash but the last few days I've been co washing with One condish and rinsing it all out since i just got B'Leave in.

Braziliancurls 12-31-2005 11:26 AM

no CG for me, although my HG products are CG friendly, go figure!

mayim 12-31-2005 11:40 AM

other.

pretty much the same as most above. wash with low-poo, a couple of times a week, co wash with no-poo, use deva products (but other than that don't like products with cones), use a sulfate containing pooo periodically for hard water build-up.

Modified.

No shampoo ever(don't seem to need it) but I could not live without creamy stylers, something Lorraine advises against.

I use a sulfate shampoo like once or twice a week right now(on my scalp mostly). Feels good actually. hehe. I missed shampoo... Something about the lather and that nice fresh feeling and smell. My scalp is on the oilier side too though.
I do co washes inbetween. I do avoid the bad cones like the plagues too but use the ones that can be removed easily by milder cleansers.

Use Sapp Moss, One Condition and RedKen Ringlet right now.
And to me this is kinda non CG.

I go between this and modified CG.

Spiralli 12-31-2005 02:48 PM

I'm thinking I'm a "modified CG-er". I CO mostly, but I used lots of conditioner because my hair likes it. I use a conditioner with a cone maybe a couple times per month, more to use up something I tried rather than because I really like what it does to my hair.

sylvia 12-31-2005 03:00 PM

I am back to Conditioner wash only for the winter. Even though it is not very cold here this year.
Last summer I used a mild Sulphate free shampoo once a week.
I also use mousse which LM is against.
It simplifies my winterroutine as I only need a light washing conditioner, a heavier one for conditioning and the mousse as a styler.

bunniee23 12-31-2005 03:18 PM

Modified CG here, although I don't follow the routine for wavies to the letter. I wash with a shampoo bar once or twice a week, and CO wash on other days. I also incorporate ayurvedic herbs and henna into my routine, and use -cones in moderation (mainly amodimethicone).

I now shampoo (Cream of Nature or CHS) once a month b/c I am too lazy to do ACV rinse and to make sure I have no build up. I still try to only use cone-free products.

CitznMag 12-31-2005 05:47 PM

Still full CG. Still works for me.

What is CHS?
