OH DENMAN, I think I LOVE to Brush!!
So thanks to Curly Girl FL and Rudee for urging me to get the Denman. Tried out my Denman for the 1st time today and I'm loving this little gadget!! I think it does make a difference with product distribution ALONE! I got no crunch at all even with the Honey mixed in to the styling product.
Also, my VERY THICK THICK hair took 1/2 the time it normally does to dry! I think it may even be wavier since the weather cooled down and humidity is gone. Posted my experiment in my Fotki the real test will be how many days I get out of this.............
You Denman gals don't brush once dry on non-wash days do you????

Wow-you were a fast convert! Glad it works for ya. I wash pretty much daily *dodges flying curlygirl thrown objects*, but hell, no-no brushing once dry! I already resemble BroomHilda without doing that...

DO IT, DO IT, DO IT,
Ok, seriously MimsTX your hair is beautiful so if you can curb the PJ in you and the suspense then I applaud you for not jumping on the bandwagon. I honestly thought there was NO WAY a stupid brush could make a difference but it sure did for me!!! If we didn't have this drastic change in weather out here I wouldn't have given this a shot but my hair was really getting "Sybil" on me!!!
Soooooooooo it's up to you Mims
I forgot: instead of raking in my products I used the brush to distribute the stuff. Upside down, then sideways brushing away from the scalp not straight down as rudee suggested. After all product application I scrunched like Mad and Plopped.

I have this impression that it is a brush w/ rubber spike things instead of the normal bristles and that my mom uses one. Is a denman brush a specific brand or just a type of brush?

This is it you can get it at Sally's and it is a particular brand. Don't know if there is a generic at Walmart or something that would be comparable.

Ahh, thank you! My mom's brush is kind of like that, but with shorter bristles. I guess I'll just have to go pick up a new one. I gather the brush is used to distribute product?

Exactly! and it's still a mystery to me WHY this works better than a wide tooth comb but these curlies swear by it!! I was afraid it would make my hair HUGE but it didn't!

That brush reminds me of those ones when I was a kid(with straight hair)that literally tore out the tangles!
How do you use it with curly hair....I would be scared! How different is it than using a comb to distribute?

Hi, which Denman brushes are you guys having success with? I have tried some in the past and have had inconsistent results with them.

I've had great success with the D3 (7 row), but even better with the D6 (the round brush). I use it all the time, to detangle and distribute products. It works incredibly well, glides through my hair. It takes just a few minutes to detangle my hair and distributes my conditioner and styling products so well, I now use less product than before. I also have to say the D6 is so easy in hand, the D3 feels a bit heavy (maybe it's just me haha).
My hair is no more stringy, just beautiful, bouncy clumps. The only downside that I've noticed is sometimes it makes my hair shrink more than I want. Which is odd, cause you'd think it would lenghten my curls, but unfortunately it doesn't. I have to add though that my hair always shrinks a lot, unless I rake through my products. I'm currently experimenting raking in my last styling product (gel), to try and enlengthen them.

Didnt mean to mislead. I brush straight out when I am lean over to the side. So the brush angle is horizontal (kinda), but my HAIR is almost vertical. ALmost like brushing upside down, but I avoid the volume at theroots.
