Thank you OperaCurl and JamaicaCurl! I do the color myself so I am very proud, the curls will be a work in progress but I am now very hopeful!

Curlyz (& my new cut)

Straightz (& ignore the craziness - straight hair pics are rare these days and I'm a goofball XP)

Aww, would you look at the curly length? Mine was like that... Eventually in a zillion years when it grows out it will be again! Gorgeous!

Thanks Wavy, the curls JUST showed up again 2 days ago...before that this is the sad curl mess I had (look down if you dare)!

And the color took 2 yrs of BAD color at salons to finally get right, lol and only after learning how to do it myself. But at least I can only yell at myself if I do it wrong right?

why thank you

I'm actually about to get a lot of it cut off....It used to be hip length and while I LOVE having long long hair, I'm due for a change

Sending the growing vibes your way!

lol, I was "due for a change" too, so I cut my hair from mid back to where it is now in Feb. 09... We can get so bored can't we?

Thanks for the grow vibes! My head is tingling!

I think it's interesting that you use two high quality irons to do the job. I never would have thought of that.

I always wondered if was my hair texture or the flatiron that gave me the crimpy hair.

One time my stylist was unavailable, and so I went to a close-by salon and asked for a blowout. The woman just flat-ironed me, and it looked all crimpy even when she did it, and then I paid for it. Ugh. A few friends have tried to just iron it too with the same result. But, the friends were light wavies who may not have needed a hard core iron. Who knows. I've been iron shy ever since.

It's fun straight right now though. It's right at the top of my jeans, so the change in length feels so weird. I also like that I'll have a week of no maintenance hair.
honestly, i find that some flat irons are just crappy and can put those horrid crimps in. crimpy and dull!!

yes that's the up of straight hair, you can brush it and go!! just have to be meticulous about keeping water away from it!! awww rcc, before i cut my hair was just a bit longer than yours straight. i can't wait to get back there! i want pocahontas hair!
I had to chuckle at Pocahontas hair because one of my co-workers called me Pocahontas and Rapunzel that week, lol.

You'll get there again though!

For the time question, my stylist does mine and it's about 90 minutes on a good day.

I wish my curls could be so pretty. I have frizzy, damaged, undefined curls. And don't let my avatar deceive you, that pic was taken an hour out of the shower.

I find myself with less respect for those who straighten their hair constantly or have relaxers or whatever else is out there. I believe that if your hair is curly, wavy, or straight, your hair is beautiful as is. There are non-damaging solutions for frizz or split ends or whatever. You don't have to burn it flat or fry it with chemicals to look "good." People say love the skin you're in, same goes for hair.
