The straight pic is almost a year old(taken last winter), and the curly pic is from this past spring.

Wow so pretty everyone! This topic was a fun idea. Proves that people really look great when they embrace what they have. Yay curly hair!
Here's my pictures. Pay no attention to the flower headband, it was Easter.

My turn! My straight haired pictures aren't the best, but they are all I could find. We were going on a cruiser ride wearing mustaches for my friend's birthday. So that's why I'm wearing a mustache in the straight hair pic. The third one was taken today.

Of course I will tell Thank you so much for the compliment.
In that photo I had used creme of nature shampoo, a tiny amount of CK and gradually added Joiwhip mousse while diffusing.
My current routine I have eliminated the creme of nature.
I am using VO5 conditioners for washing. Still small amounts of CK and have switched my beloved Joiwhip to Pantene Ice Shine Mousse while diffusing.
And I diffuse till my hair is completely dry. I hate the feeling of wet hair.
The Ice Shine is CG friendly and over ten dollars cheaper!!
I have a some layers in my hair and my texture is like pipe cleaners. I can honestly make it go and stay in a bunch of different directions. But it feels soft to the touch.

Straight...from like...3 years ago. My mother always had to do it, I could never reach the back of my head, and even with her straightening it, it took like 2 hours.
When straight it was so straw-like and whispy and wouldn't stay in an elastic or clip.
And then curly! Much better.

I love the curls! Your hair looks so touchably soft. Is that the tightly wound that did that? The Loreal melting gel made my hair crunchy ... so you put re:coil on and then spritz the tightly wound before scrunching? Sorry for all the questions!

Thanks, curlsabound and kat! You guys are so sweet!
As for my routine, curlsabound, basically after washing/conditioning, I tip my head upside down, completely saturate it with water, rake/scrunch/smooth in a gumball sized glob conditioner, then scrunch in one pump of re:coil. Then I use the tightly wound gel. I don't spray it on; it wouldn't give me enough coverage. I usually just pull off the sprayer and glob it into my hands before scrunching all over. Maybe two or three big globs. Plop for about ten minutes, airdry, then I scrunch out the crunch.
I think the key for softness is the leave-in and the lighter hold gel. I do get pretty crispy while drying, but it scrunches right out and feels great for the rest of the day. The only downside to the softness is that in the back, where my curl pattern is naturally looser, the ringlets sometimes fall out into waves.
