I might never get a hair cut again
I eased myself slowly into CG starting April 2008. June 2008 I went full CG & got a hair cut. It was my last hair cut. Four months later & I don't think I have a single split end! My hair is healthier than it's ever been in my life.
Other than shaping, which seems pretty much irrelevant to CGs, I can't think of any reason to spend the money or the time.

Woot! That's excellent news!!!
I only trim mine at all because I get it coloured a few times a year. But I have very little damage or split ends even with that.

That's great! I usually go about 6-7 months between deva-haircuts, and that's just to shape it up. I have layers and I need to keep them up or I get triangle-head. No (or few) split ends either, and I'm not even full CG. Keep it up!

I have never had split ends, ever. Maybe my hair just grows really fast? Even when I was using SLS everyday I never had them.
I remember a few years back I didn't get my hair cut for 3 years and STILL no visible damage.

Good for you! I wish I could say the same but my hair is soooo thick that I need the layers in order to cope, give me shape and to help avoid the dreaded pyramid head!

I'm at the 3 1/2 month mark since my last cut. If it weren't for great products though, I would have gotten it cut a couple of times by now! I'm still having trouble deciding where my layers should be, it seems like the longer it gets the better it curls but it's also getting weighed down. See my dilemma? My ends don't get split, they get "pointy" does that make sense to anyone??

Like they are sort of cone shaped, where the pointy end of the cone is your ends, and it gets wider with more hair as it goes up?
Sorry if I just totally confused you, I'm trying to picture this visually

I know what you mean about the layers. I have a lot of layers, and as my hair grows long it is starting to get weighed down. However my curl formation seems to be getting better. *sigh* So much experimenting. I think once my hair gets about an inch longer I will out some length to even out the layers even though it feels like it has taken me forever to get this far!

Wow, and here I was congratulating myself on going 6 weeks with no trim. But the issue is more self-restriant for me, since I'm growing out a TR.
Congrats to you!

That sounds about right! Then they kind of start twisting in the wrong direction! Sometimes I look at other people on TV though and it seems their ends are kinda "pointy" too, then I'm not sure if I'm being my usual neurotic self
