Default Denman users - how do you "stop the pop"?

PLEASE tell me I'm not alone here. Every time I'm using my denman and I hit a big tangle, the pink foam part that holds the bristles pops out of the brown base. How do you stop this from happening when you don't want it to?

Sorry Babe, haven't had that problem

but your hair is SUPER long much longer than mine.....Can you use a wide tooth comb to get out the initial tangles and then the Denman to "fine comb"?

That used to happen to me, but I've been using it for so many years that I just subconsciously react and change my hold a bit. I don't realize I do it now, but my hair is thick and tangly. When I hit a rough spot I guess I shift my grip towards the top with my fingers over the edge to prevent the "pop". I'll try to pay attention in the shower tomorrow...all I know is, that it never happens anymore, lol!

I have the Denman Bebob (I think that's what it's called, anyway), and it's all one piece... so I guess I can't be of any help to you other than to say: If you can't get it to stop, you could try the Bebop. I got mine on e-bay WAY cheap!

I have the bebop, too! I love both brushes, and was going to mention it,too. Now, I used my D3 this morning, and realized what I do is just grip the brush a little bit higher when necessary-so I'm sort of holding the bottom bristles while I detangle a rough section. I only grip with my finger over the top on a really-bad-must-concentrate-on tangle.

I don't have this problem, but I've detangled really well in the shower with a wide-tooth comb already before I use the Denman, so that's probably why.

I haven't had this happen, but I use a comb for detangling, so maybe that helps.

I have a wide-toothed comb in the shower, but the reason I started using a brush in there was because way too many tangles were just slipping between the teeth. Maybe I'm just gonna have to learn to be more careful about which direction I'm going.
