First time I used this I had amazing hair! It melted knots, gave me fantastic shine, hardly any frizz, and fair definition. After that...downhill.

Now I can't use it because it compltely dries my hair out! I'm dissapointed because I thought I found my HG condish.

Is Biotera Curl Creme the Sally's knock-off version of Biolage Conditioning Balm? May eventually get it and want to make sure it's the right one people are referring to in this thread.

Nope. The curl creme is a styling creme. The Biolage Conditioning Balm is a conditioner and can be found at Sally's and it's called Generic Value Product (or GVP) Matrix Conditioning Balm.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

I use Sally's generic version of this as a leave in. I've never tried the "real" one. Does it have a different smell? I ask because it looks as though people like the smell of the original one. Has anyone smelled both?

I used to use the gellee when I first went cg back in 2003 and it was HG. They changed the ingredients in about 2005 and now it is not compatible is you cg.

I like the smell of the biolage better. But both of them smell very similar. They gboth have a light floral type scent to them. I think the biolage has a slightly more "high end product" type floral scent but the GVP smells pretty good too. Different versions of the same scent basically.

Thanks tinah. I think the place I get my hair cut sells the biolage, so I can pick it up if I like the smell better than the GVP.

No problem. Honestly for the difference in the price the GVP smells just fine. I like the smell of it. I just think the biolage smells a little better. but not enough to justify the difference in price considering they work exactly the same.

And remember - if you do get the biolage instead - the ULTRA hydrating balm is not CG. It has cones in it. But the regular conditioning balm has no cones and is CG.

I have the bioINFUSION knockoff from Walgreen's & like it.

But I'll have to give the Generic Value Products from Sally Beauty Supply a try since so many seem to know/talk about this one more & like it as much as the real thing.

Here are the ingredients for all, to compare in case someone wanting to try either of them is curious.

Other posters have said the knockoffs are just as good as the original but I haven't tried any of the knockoffs because the first time I used the original matrix biolage, my hair was hooked. It is my favorite conditioner - detangles on impact and smells good. The only downside on the original version is the price so definitely some day I will get around to trying the Sally's version. I really tend to stick with the products that I know work on my hair.

I used to be hooked on the original, way back in the day (late 80s/early 90s).

Hi Lazy Loops

I just bought the Biolage Conditioning Balm to try today from a UK Sally's (they don't do GVP here). I was checking the ingredients against the one listed in curlmart on this site to make sure the UK version not different - thankfully they are the same . However, the ingredients you posted up above are not the same - I think the drugstore website has posted them up incorrectly - the ingredients should be:

Water, propylene glycol, myristyl alcohol, cetrimonium chloride, cetearyl alcohol, decyl oleate, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, fragrance, propylparaben, hexyl cinamal, rosemary leaf (rosmarinus officinalis) extract, golden seal (hydrastis canadensis) extract, fucus vesiculosus/bladderwrack, methyl-2-octnoate

I think I paid 8.99 - am looking forward to trying it - tried the CJ curl rehab today for the first time (it's been sitting on my shelf untouched for about 3 weeks - lol) I had to try it today in the hope it would sort out the dryness after my salon trip. I actually think it was the Louise Galvin low poo I took with me for them to use after the colour. I bought all my stylers with me also, so it has to be the low poo that caused the dryness. I don't like her DT either. Anyhow, I really liked the curl rehab - hair much better now so shall be trying your gel in a few days!

My base just start getting in shipments of Bioloage Conditioning Balm and I love it!! This is officially one of my new staples.
