Wow, Wow, Wow. Thank you so much. I have learned more about my hair and why it does what it does in the 15 minutes I reviewed your site than I have in my whole lifetime. Fine, overly porous. Now I have to go back to find out what to do for it. Thank you so much.

Day 1: Cowash and condition with AO GPB, ACV Rinse,
Co-Kra gel (this stuff is fantastic)

Day 2: KCKT, KCCC, plop, KCCC, plop again, air dry
Day 3: Curly Kinks Satin Roots, Coil Jam
Day 4: IAGirl's PT, KBB DT, FSG

Co-Kra gel is my own concoction of okra boiled in coconut milk. It is a cross between FSG and KCCC and leaves my hair very soft and shiny

Wow, thank you, Struttswife! So clear, concise and well-written - everything in one place. One thing I found interesting is that it sounds like many are using ACV rinses much too often. Seems it's a good thing I've forgotten so much of the time, but even I usually do them more than once a month.

I think I'll move to Florida or at least start taking hair vacations to visit you

I'm only half kidding - I just tried an actual Deva-trained stylist, but the jury's still out. I seem to have a lot of long straggler pieces in the back. It's the first time I've washed and styled it since the cut, and I don't know if it's just the difference in the way it curled today vs. Tuesday when it was cut or what. They're noticeable enough that I've gotta get her or someone to trim them some more. Otherwise, it is curling much better than before, though.

Anyway, thank you, thank you for the wonderful site!

It looks great! I'm now bookmarking your site! Thank you so much for the homemade recipes, now I don't have to google for it every time!

Can I make a wee request? Whenever you do your gallery of curls (which I'm sure is a huge huge undertaking!) could you please put some in there of everyday styles that we "normal" people without the haircutting talent could put our hair up to keep it out of the way when we don't feel like wearing it down.

Thank you for the great comments. It's taken me a year to get that far and I hope to expand it as time permits. I'm excited about the visuals and would like to get started as soon as possible ... maybe some of the Tampa area curlies will lend me their heads and/or photography talent here and there to jump-start the process

Absolutely. One of the things that drives me nuts is some of the industry trade rags and style collections I receive every season ... I take one look at some of the "fashion-forward styles" and the first thing I think is, "Are you &^%$ kidding me???" Blech.

Although my first inclination was just to show general curly hair styles in the gallery, Ms. Curly Girl Fla -- genius that she is -- suggested I show how to accessorize and how to do simple updos, etc. that someone not formally trained as a stylist could do at home. Which sounds like a plan to me

Maybe I need to have a party/photography session at my house, LOL.

I have been having the same problem and have been just pulling them back with a barette. Of course then sometimes I just have a triangle of curls around my head and I don't like that either. To battle that I've been pulling part of it back and leaving the rest down. It's not all that flattering, but I don't care what the people at work think about my hair, lol. I wish there were more ways to take care of this problem, but it seems barettes and bobby pins may be the only way. I can't wait 'til they grow out!

Which pins? If these that we were talking about back on pg 1 www.sallybeauty.com/Magic-Grip-Hairpins/GOODHR1,default,pd.html , this brand is at Sally Beauty Supply, and Scuncii has them under their brand name at some drugstores, discount stores, etc. All storees that carry Scuncii products don't carry them, though. Both brands are identical.

EXCELLENT website full of wonderful information and inspiration.

How's it going on the how-to for the face frames? I'm letting my hair grow still, keep putting off another cut, but the front is looking bad if I don't pull it up.

I actually looked at the price to fly over there to see you. $250 roundtrip! With hotels and the cut, I'll have to wait until we take a family trip there.

I do this constantly - the very front pieces of my hair are awkwardly shorter bc of the short haircult I'm growing out, so do not do anything except get a strange, loose wave and fall straight in my face. It works out well.

So I just decided to pull a small section on top back and secure them with bobby pins. Now, bobby pins as a rule don't like me and I have a mutual regard for them. I hope I can 'splain it.

I take a small section (usually start gathering in the hair right above the arch of my eyebrows) and pull it back about 3 inches. Then I take a bobby pin on one side to secure it and still holding the sectioned piece, take another bobby pin on the other side and make sure they cross in the middle. I take another two bobby pins and cross them directly behind the other bobby pins.

It looks kinda like this when I'm done, but with curly hair.

My sister has thicker hair than I. Insanely thick hair and she uses 2 of the snappy clips. Like the ones misfitcurls used on her video on how she gets lift.

I have another project I'm doing in November and probably partway into December, but this will probably be my priority after the holidays

Well, OK, I guess we'll try to be patient. j/k! Good luck with the writing!

I'll probably get another devacut this month, hopefully she'll be able to frame up my face again. Then, with your tips later, I can keep it up until the next cut.
