How long does it take for hair to grow? and Layers

I finally got my hair cut today, and it came out very well. I finally found a stylist who understood and she gave me layers. My hair is healthier, softer and all that wonderful stuff, but it seems a little short to me (not her fault. Everyone says it looks the same length).

I think she only ended up trimming two inches off the bottom layer (when dry), so it's really not that big a difference. The top layer is pretty short though (just tucks behind my ear or at my chin). And I'm looking forward to when it grows the couple of inches to where it used to be, but healthier (how great would that be?)

Sorry to ramble. Anyway, how much does curly hair grow in a month? How long would it take for curly hair to grow 2-5 inches? Thanks.

Oh, as a side question, what's the difference between long layers and short layers?

It depends on how much your hair normally grows.. mine grows at about a half of an inch every month. So it would be an inch every two months, 6 inches a year. I believe that's the *average... others may grow less or more.

I agree it varies from individual to invidual. I've been growing mine out for almost 5 years. Think it took about a year to get 5 inches. I started at a pixie.
