Default Hair feels "hard" after rinsing out shampoo

I've decided to go CG pretty soon, just been figuring out products and everything, but i wanted to first figure out why my hair has been acting so strange with shampoo.

Whenever i put shampoo in my hair its fine, but as soon as i put water on it to rinse out the shampoo, it gets hard and "stuck" together and its so hard for me to rinse out the shampoo. Its reallly weird =S. I've used many different shampoos, but same thing. I end up having to throw on a bunch of conditioner to "soften" my hair so its not just one hard clump...and have no idea if the shampoo ever gets cleansed out.

Has this ever happened to anyone? Any suggestions on what it could be? My hair is a little damaged but i dont know if thats the reason.

Another side note....I've noticed that when i soap myself in the shower....when i rinse the soap off my skin sometimes feels rubbery. Do you think its related? Could i be allergic to soap/shampoo? lol. Im grasping at straws here!

The hard and sticky hair is probably from the sulfates in your shampoo. I would suggest you cg like on your next wash. Try some all natural hair products. I like Aubrey Organics, its poo but it doesnt feel like poo.

The rubbery skin is probably because your soap is drying it out, try using a glycerin based soap.

Shampoo did that to me when I used it. Since going CG, I don't have to to bother with it and my hair is a lot healthier. I wouldn't worry about it if you're planning on ditching the sulfates.

Thanks! I guess that makes a lot more sense then my "being allergic to soap/shampoo" idea lol

it could also have to do with how hard/soft your water is, i.e., how many minerals are in the water being deposited on your hair/skin and interfering with the soap/shampoo being rinsed off.

my hair loves protein and hates jojoba oil, my scalp hates propylene glycol, my face hates silicones.

That's what it sounds like to me too. I am allergic to soaps and shampoos; the symptoms are very different. Hives, asthma flareups, and other lovely issues... if you don't have those I think you are okay. An acidic rinse will help clear some of the scum that your soap and shampoo leave behind.
Also, if your shampoo has cones or lots of protein, that can make your hair feel hard as well.
