Question Sulfate and Silicone-free Shampoo?

Hi, I'm new to Naturally Curly I just want to know which shampoos are best for my loose curly hair. It is thick, frizzy and it's coarse sometimes.

I want to go CG soon so which brands of shampoos and conditioners don't contain sulfate or any silicones or other ingredients that aren't good for curly hair? I have tried Pears shampoo and Conditioner and Sunsilk so far. After using Pears, my hair feels thin and brittle and dry so I guess it's taking away the natural oil from my hair. Sunsilk feels okay but I heard it contains sulfate or something.

Thanks!

Actually, it doesn't matter because I've already started going curly girl tonight. I'm just using sunsilk and it seems to be working for me

Hey there. I've been off CG for a month or two and just have to go back. So, anyway Giovanni has nice shampoos....that are on sale at this moment at my local Walgreens for $4.99 each. But the Smooth as silk shampoo does have a cone down near the bottom of the ingredients list. The Tea tree and 50:50 are good. All the conditioners are good as well.

P.S. I too was using Sunsilk this past month. But I have to go back to CG, and sunsilk has that evil xane cone in it.

Thanks for your feedback guys!

Marinacurlz - On my sunsilk it doesn't have any 'xane' on the ingredients. I live in Australia and we have different bottles and ingredients so it might not be the same. Sunsilk works for me though

curlzAbound - Thanks for your suggestion They don't sell Live Clean products in Australia (Maybe they do but not where I live).

If the Sunsilk is working for you (and doesn't have any ingredients that have sulfate in the name), then you are probably ok. The serum you mention in your signature likely has silicones though. Just an FYI.

Hi! Thank you for all your suggestions guys I was looking in a store today and they are bringing out new Sunsilk bottles. I checked the ingredients and they have als, sls, xane, cones, the works!!!! So angry!!! I just hope they also keep the original shampoos & cond. too. I'm already sick of not being able to just pick up any product and use it. I don't want to be rubbing 'dishwashing detergent' into my hair, grrr!

I might have to try Organic Care or something if they replace sunsilk :P

starcrosser - My serum has no cones but it has a xane, thanks for reminding me. It actually works pretty well to me, though : )

Everything I use right now in my products seems to be working. After 10 days curly girl I have loose corkscrew hair!!! *parties like it's '99*

I just added a list of CG products to the left hand side of my blog. I would post it here but, the list is rather long. The link to my blog is in my signature.

First, many people here struggle to find what they are looking for. If you need help, ask. Be specific. Be prepared to do some research and ask more questions. We are all in the same place and I have found the group on this board to be very helpful during frustrating times.

Second, if you are having technical problems getting around the website, contact one of the moderators. I am sure they would be happy to help.

Third, I wish you would re-think your use of the word "retarded." When used this way, it is a very derogatory term, and people with actual disabilities can find it very hurtful.

If it ends in -xane, it's a silicone. Just FYI. But do what works for you and your hair

Pro naturals moroccan argan oil shampoo and conditioner, those are the sulfate and silicone free ones I use at my salon. Work really well on curls because of the argan oil

EDIT: They're online so you can buy them from a load of countries.
