Default Getting a haircut-need advice

So, I realized that my hair is looking kind of ragged and even though I really want it long, it just does not look good with my fat, round face. So, my instructor from school is going to cut it. And she's planning on doing it so I can wear it curly. I love her!

Here's where you come in. Take a look at the most recent pic I have and help me come up with some ideas to take to her. Pictures would be best, she and I are both visual beings. We have to see to do it.

Here's my pic and thanks to all of you!

P.S. This photo is about in May-June, so it's grown a bit, but you get the general idea of my face shape, curl type, etc.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

I am thinking more layers or angling around your face. Check out Curlilocks new haircut on her fotki and see what you think.

She does have a cute haircut, but I'm thinking maybe something more dramatic. I really like this cut, but maybe without so much floof on the sides, like the layers would be cut so it would hug closer to the head maybe? What say you?

sunshine girl -- i like that haircut photo for you. i have the same type of face, round, and have been wearing my hair like that, just shorter now til it grows a bit, and i think it elongates the face. i think that would be a great cut for you.
there is a website that you can upload your photo to and try different styles. i never used it, but.... if you do a search on nc, maybe you can find the name of the site. sorry, i cannot remember it.
good luck!

I like that cut! It looks like it might be high in the back, like a steeply angled A-line. Unless I'm imagining things. But anyhow, I like it & that's what I've been after (what I thought it was).

Just a word of caution, I'm also 2C'ish and I can't have layers that length. They're too short for my wave pattern so the layers just stick out sideways from my head and it looks horrible. You might be ok, i think your waves are tighter than mine, but something to think about.

I loooove that style, with a touch less poof on the sides. I think you would look fabulous with that cut, it would fit you perfectly! I hope you have it done before we meet up again, I want to see it!!!

Total guano here, but I'm getting some flax gel from BB - if it arrives before I see you then I'll bring you and LL some to try since I know ya'll need some more products!

If we push back lunch to next weekend, it should be done by then. We're talking about it being done on Tuesday or Wednesday.

And of course I want a sample of BB's Flax gel! I keep on trying to get down to Whole Foods to buy the light flax seeds and can't seem to make it down there. Maybe I'll make some out of my dark flax seeds, just because I have that on hand.

On another note. I'm thinking my hair won't be as poofy on the sides as the picture shows because my curl pattern will be looser, so that might be problem solved. But...if I get it cut like that, it'll cut off a goodly portion of bleached and chemically colored hair, so that might make my hair bounce up. Ahhhhhhh! This is getting complicated.

Just make sure you cut it when it is dry or tell her if there are different amounts of curliness because I got layers and the top layer is curlier than the bottom so when it dried it became a little too short.

That's the style I was going for, longer and without the floof, as you say. But she cut it shorter, oh well. I plan to grow it out a bit like that. You'll actually need some heavy layering in there for that cut. I have tons of layers in my hair too. I actually think the front should have been layered starting up higher this last cut. I may go back to my last stylist instead in a month for a touch up.

I think that look would work for you.

Eh, it's not happening this way anyway. I also didn't like the poof on the sides, so that would have taken away the triangle look.

I have no idea what my new look will be, but just hear it'll be fabulous with an a-line and lots and lots of layers. Music to a curly's ears, right?
