Botticelli_girl922, what are your current dews? I think Lustrasilk is great...but only in low dews. My hair does best in high dews with either a very light leave-in or no leave-in at all. Otherwise, it gets overconditioned and that gives me frizz.

If you think that might be your issue, you could try clarifying and then using either curl cream OR a light leave-in but not both, and then apply gel for hold.

Also, if your rinse-out conditioner is very moisturizing, you might not need a leave-in at all unless your dews are low.

Just some tips in case your current frizz is caused by over-conditioning...
The dew points in my area never fall that low...a few days ago it seemed it would rain...but it never got below 50 degrees during the daytime (at night it probably did). And right now it's in the 60's.

My area doesn't get very cold...I've only seen snow here once (and I've lived here ten years) and it melted away was warm by the afternoon!

Yesterday it was rather warm during the daytime, probably about 85 degrees.

Sorry, I don't know very much about dew points, hopefully the temperatures I told you will help you figure out my problem!

I was also thinking maybe the glycerin in CK was sucking my hair of its moisture. But I'm thinking maybe that's not right, since it really doesn't get extremely cold here.

I hope that helps you help me
BG--check for build up as well. Sometimes Polyquat's or other things can build up on your hair. I've seen it happen with things people have used for a little while with propylene glycol (sp?) and Polyquats--particularly Poly11. I can't remember if AG ReCoil has poly's but I know some of the GF products do.

Hmm...perhaps you have a point. I'll check my products soon.

But it seemed like CK with Re:coil were doing fine until I sampled another product for one day. Then it got mad and refused to cooperate.

And I can't be that much build up, I hope. I low-pooed and did a vinegar rinse a few weeks ago, so it probably hasn't accumulated for months.

How can I get rid of build-up without drying out my hair? My curls hated the low-poo and vinegar rinse when I did it. And I really don't want to do it again.

I bought some of the shea/mango for $2.69 yesterday to try when it gets really cold. Right now I'm loving my EO Rose & Chamomille (old formula) as a leave-in. It's my favorite.

I finally got to try my Shea Mango! I had bought it in March, but by that time our dew points were already rising and I was afraid to try it. I used it over the summer as a pre-shampoo sometimes, and definitely liked it for that. Anyway, today our dews are in the 20's so I figured I'd try it. I really like it! My waves/curls are much more defined and bouncy today than usual for this cool weather. My hair also actually feels really moisturized for the first time in like a month! My hair doesn't really feel product-y, just soft and very moisturized. I think I used a 50 cent piece amount in total, which is a ton compared to the dime sized amount I normally use of my KBB.

I'll keep using this as long as our dew points stay low. I also want to try the Olive Oil one now!

Hey! I got Lustrasilk Shea Butter Cholestrol, though I wanted the Shea Mango, but they only had the Shea Butter Cholestrol. I'm thinking about using it as a DT

New way to use Lustrasilk!

I pineappled last night to get 2nd day hair today (I don't use a satin pillowcase/nightcap...just use a huge cotton t-shirt over my pillow...sort of like a pillowcase--it's nicer for my curls).

Anyway, for a curl refresher/booster, I tried putting 1/2 teaspoon to one teaspoon inside my spray bottle. I added some water until it was about a third of the way filled up, and I shook it around...it turns sort of like a cloudy, minty-green water. Then I leaned to the side, letting my curls fall in front. NOTE: When you do this, make sure you can hold the spray bottle as far away as possible...you don't want water globbing in pieces, which is water tends to happen if you spray too close. If you spray as far away as your arm can reach, you get fine mist, and it is distributed properly.

Then I scrunched it in gently upright, and then bended forward upside down. Sprayed a little more, scrunched a little more.

Pretty good results Kept my curls lightly-moisturized throughout the day. You guys should try it!

And for those of you that have Lustrasilk Shea Butter and Mango, perhaps you can turn it into a leave-in for already-dry hair with this method

Also, I've read of this being done with lighter conditioners, such as Suave or V05.

I posted the same thing a few posts up - great, isn't it? I love it as a refresher! I also use the spray on top of my leave-in on low dew point days for a bit of extra moisture.

yup same here on PAGE 11, I posted a mix of Water/LOOC as a great 2nd day refresher. That was before I discovered KBB butter so not sure if I'll be doing that again when I have this enormous KBB tub to go through

I also really liked this combo. LOOC/CK/Boots/BRHG. I've always used CK 1st but thought I'd try it this way. Gave me 2nd day again just like my KCCC combo with LOOC/CK

I like it!

I used the shea and mango as a leave-in with FSG over the top and did an overnight plop followed by a very quick diffuse this morning.

Well-defined curls, nice and soft.

I think I used too much, will use less next time.

Happy!

Btw, Del2C, have I mentioned before that I think your hair is drool-worthy? GORGEOUS!

I saw someone post on (I think?) the 3a board about an Argan oil version of Lustrasilk coming out. Anyone try it yet? I love argan oil but can't get past the smell in my hair - it smells kinda like peanut oil. I love to cook with it but I can't get myself to wear it out of the house, lol.

Ah yes, the mysterious Lustrasilk Organic Argan Oil. No, I haven't tried it. Unfortunately, they don't sell it at Sally's (they don't have it on the website). I don't know where else I could possibly find it.

I think the Sallys in our area has a basket full of this oil at the register. I did not notice if it was made by lustrasilk or not.

DEEEELLLLL22222CCCCCC - is that the olive oil one? Do you think the shea/mango might work the same in your combo above?

aww Thanks battah, it's not easy taming this beast on my head

xcptnl last year I did like the Olive Oil one better then the Shea Mango for a LI. I really liked the shine I got from the SM but the Olive Oil is my #1. I don't see why the combo wouldn't work if your hair works well with the SM version.

Well, Pure Argan Oil is relatively easy to find (sometimes), but the Argan Oil we're talking about is the deep conditioner...it's not just pure Argan Oil Everyone : Where can I find Boots? I've heard so many curlies talking about it that I want to try it now. My local Target has some "Boots" products, but only lotions and such. They don't have Boots hair care.

Well-as you might recall-my olive oil one had separated (I think it might have gotten frozen during the power issues we had here in December last year). And of course, I could not tell that until I bought it. It kinda freaked me out so I ditched and I think I only used it 1x maybe-I was not sure if the separation would deteriorate it's goodness. If I see the olive oil one I may pick it up again. But man, all these big jars are freaking me out!!!

I would totally recommend Olive Oil! I use it every day under my other products, and I also dillute it with water in my spray bottle as a curl refresher. It's awesome!

Update: I used my Dilluted Lustrasilk Curl Refresher again today as a mid-day curl refresher (it was first day hair). I could see some surface frizz coming, and I gave it a few good sprays, scrunched it in, sprayed a little more into my hand and then applied that to my "problem areas" for frizz; got great results.

I can't get enough of Lustrasilk! And I certainly can't get over the price. I am one happy curly!

If I'm not mistaken they had a little bottle of the Argan oil ($1.99) at the register at Sally's and when I looked at the ingredients it had dimethicone in it....anyone else see these? I wonder if the Lustrasilk with argan oil has dimethicone too?

ETA: Here is the oil I was talking about. http://www.sallybeauty.com/moroccan-...efault,pd.html
