There's an argan oil one now??? I just ordered some from Amazon (nearly $7 including shipping but I figure for the size it's worth it). I didn't see this. Do you like it better than Shea Mango, OOC, tell me more please...

The girls at Sally's hate me too! They ask "Can I help you find something?" every five minutes, trying to rush me out of the shop. Maybe I look like a shoplifter. They try to talk me out of ordering things too "Well, the main store might not have it...it could take a month for it to get in...the shipping costs..."
Honestly.
I shop at DJ's Beauty Store now, they have everything in stock all the time, and I support a small business.

Well, thanks to these lovely long threads and a big batch of boredom, I ordered a bunch of stuff from Sally's.
I ordered 4 kinds of Lustrasilk (olive oil, shea/mango, aloe, herbal) and enough other conditioner to last me a couple years. Online specials and free shipping were too good to pass up. Plus I got some non-hair stuff too. Can't wait to try it all.

As for the problems with Sally stores, I never go in mine anymore. The clerks are either too busy yakking on the phone to help, don't know anything, or they try to sell me stuff with sulfates and silicones (even after I tell them I don't use anything containing those ingredients). I much prefer online shopping anyway.

My order is supposed to be here tomorrow so more experiments coming up!

Default Olive Oil Mayonnaise

Sorry to bump an old thread, but......today I was at Sally's and came across Lustrasilk Moisture Max Olive Oil Mayonnaise and bought it for $4. Has anyone tried it? Is it similar to the regular olive oil or mango-shea condishes?
http://www.sallybeauty.com/Lustrasil...efault,pd.html

Ingredients: water, stearyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, cetrimonium bromide, olive fruit oil, egg protein, coconut oil, peanut oil, fragrance, dmdm hydantion, methly paraben, propl paraben, polyquatenium-32, trideceth-6 disodium edta, yellow #5, red #33.

It's much thicker than the other condishes and smells good. I need to look up some of the ingredients I'm not familiar with, to see if they're toxic??

i havent tried the OOC one, but i have the shea mango and the herbal...i used the shea mango one as leave in once but to be honest my hair felt weird cause i had just used henn/amla so i didnt get a good go, but i think i like the argan oil better. once my hair became soft it was nice!!!!

So I did some experimenting this week with 4 of the Lustrasilk conditioners. It's been fun! I used the Olive Oil, Shea/Mango, Aloe, Herbal/Carrot.
I'm CG but I'm not an ingredient fanatic and these have some nice ingredients along with some that people don't always like (mineral oil, parbens). The Aloe and Herbal/Carrot have mineral oil low on the ingredients list but I don't have a problem with that. My hair isn't real fond of mineral oil or glycerin but as long as they are low on the list it doesn't bother it too much. There are also some parabens but those don't bother me either.
They all have a scent that I didn't love, kind of soapy, but it didn't linger and it wasn't too bad.
According to the descriptions and directions they are all considered conditioners. 3 of them are described as rinse outs, the exception being the Olive Oil which is described as a leave in.
I tried each of them as a rinse out co-wash conditioner. Not nearly as slippy or detangling as my VO5 or Suave, and they don't smell nearly as nice. So I won't be using them for co-washing.
I'm sure they will be fine in my deep treatments and I will certainly use them for that.
The real surprise for me was using them as a leave-in. I'm not big on leave ins. I don't like that producty feel and I don't like using too many products. I did some experiments a few weeks ago with a bunch of leave-ins/custards/puddings/etc because my hair gets unhappy in cold winter weather. I liked some of them well enough (and many of them smelled delicious) but nothing was so great that I would buy/use all those extra products.
But these Lustrasilk conditioners seam to be making my hair very happy as leave-ins. They revived the curls and helped with clumping and definition. It feels a little producty but not enough to bother me. And the products are cheap and easy to find so that's even better!
My routine was - co wash or water wash, rinse. Mix a little Lustrasilk with my LA Looks Sport gel, scrunch and squeeze into hair, plop, air and diffuse dry, scrunch.

I must be having a brain-lack day, but would one of you lovely curlies please link me a picture of the ones you're buying? There's none at my Sallies but might be at the local grocery store. I don't want to get the wrong stuff though (done that, it required stripping and not the fun kind either).

P.S. RCC - AMAZING length! Your length is my dream hair!

Oh, you two have no idea how relieved I am to see these comments. It seems like (it this college town on the west coast) the girls at Sally's are so snotty. Maybe I'm being paranoid but I never feel welcomed when the (pin strait and bleach blonde) give my hair the stink-eye.

Don't worry darlin, the weaved up one at the Sally's I went to one day, I thought she was fittin to break her neck the way she was trying to see if my curls were really mine! Her and her other coworker, they were KILLING themselves when the SO and I walked in, tact be damned. We thought it was funny.

I bought the Olive Oil and Mango ones months ago (maybe a year ago now???) and I liked it for awhile but it just felt gunky. My hair is too fine-textured.

Today, I decided to use the Olive Oil one as shaving cream, and it worked great! My legs feel so smooth. :-)

I just bought both the Olive Oil and Mango ones (mineral oil and my hair DO NOT get along, so the other two were off-limits). I've only used them as leave-ins and to SOTC thus far, but I LOVE them.

My hair practically eats them up, but I'm pretty porous. I can use a fair amount without feeling weighed down or producty.

Next up is trying them as rinse-outs/DTs. I'm very encouraged, given how much my hair loves them out of the shower.

A couple of weeks ago I went to Sally's and bought the LOOC, shea & mango and mayonnaise for a whole $10. I love all three. My hair can't tolerate mineral oil; so I'll stick with these.

The mayo is really rich. I've only used it as a DT and it worked pretty well and smells good.

So far both the LOOC and S&M have been great stylers. I put a ton in and my hair soaks it all up. Just need a little gel or mousse on top to keep the frizz at bay. So far, this has been giving me great moisture and big clumpy curls. And I love being able to only use 2 products in the morning. My hair does feel a bit producty, but my hair looks so good I don't mind.

Slightly off topic but...has anyone else ever seen Lustrasilk products stocked at Stop & Shop? I was really surprised to see some there tonight. Unfortunately, the only cholesterol they had was the herbal one with carrot oil. I can't find this stuff at my local Sally's or anywhere else local, so I'm hoping maybe its a new thing and they'll have the other kinds soon.

Default As pommade!

SO I know I'm revitalizing an old thread, but after reading this all of yesterday I ran to my local Sally's and picked up the olive oil Lustrasilk ready to give it a try as a LI. However, I realized that the dewpoints here were already into the 40s, so I held off. I also experimented w/ using the pixie method of diffusing after letting my hair dry 75-80%-I usually don't diffuse at all, but wanted more volume.

What I didn't realize was that a massive storm was rolling in last night and I woke up to 80% humidity! SO I ended up using the wrong products anyway, but my hair wasn't bad. I had a lot of volume and tons of tight corkscrews and spirals. But I did have some curls that just frizzed out and wouldn't do anything!

After several attempts to fix the problem, I opened up the Lustrasilk and took the smallest amount onto my fingers and then smoothed over the frizz sections and recurled the wacky curls. It really did an amazing job! I can't wait to try this again when I don't have so much product in my hair (as I said I tried a few methods b/f reaching for the Lustrasilk).

I'm swimming now several times a week so I think I'll try it as a pre-wash and if the temps dip again b/f spring I'll try it as a LI.
