I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, the less you wash, the better. However, I would take into consideration hygiene issues. You have the junk in the environment (in our air) and anything else your hair might come in contact with. I would encourage you to "wash" more often than once a month, but that's just me.
Many people have reported success in doing this, so I might be talking out of my you know what.
I would also think that your scalp, being skin and all, would need some kind of washing more often than once a month.
Are you water washing?
I remember reading on another hairboard called longhaircommunity that using some types of oils on the scalp is helpful for those who do not wash their hair. Which oils? I'm not sure. I'd encourage you to investigate it. Why I bring this up is because some of them (who don't wash their hair) complained about fungus growth. The ones that put certain oils on their scalp didn't have that problem. I think putting monistat on their hair also helped.
Why not CO wash once a week or once every two weeks and do a DT with it? Just an idea.
Main thing is do what's best for you. But I would encourage you to read more on it and investigate, in order to avoid pitfalls.
