I voted for "love 'em the way they are."

Generally, the only time my hair looks really truly awful is when it is in the process of drying. When it's wet, and once it's fully dry, it's good. Not always great, but hey, that's curly hair.

I haven't tried it (yet), but a lot of curlies swear by using a tiny bit of honey in their hair when it's wet, to combat frizz and enhance curls.

Also, be careful not to touch your hair too much while it's drying, as that can cause frizz. Using a t-shirt to blot dry, instead of a terrycloth towel, can help with frizz too.

I voted for "love it wet, hate it dry". That's with no product though, because my hair is a big, poufy, frizzy, undefined mass on top of my head with no products.

You could try leaving in conditioner then braiding your hair loosely until it dries, then gently take out the braid, and loosen up the sections just a little. If you can, any gel (without cones) would help too. If you can't get gel, aloe works pretty good. HTH!

You're in the perfect place to use shea butter like the locals do. It's moisturzing, has a natural sunscreen effect, & smells yummy.

It took 40+ years for me to finally love my curls, wet and dry.

Ditto - the shea butter and you could also try some different oils.

i must be a weirdo - i like mine dry and hate it wet. part of the reason i hate to airdry when i have to go out before it's fully dry. it doesn't look TERRIBLE when i first take off my plopping tee-shirt, but as it's drying it looks flat and nasty. once it's dry i fluff it a bit and it gets bouncy and nice (for the most part).

I'm the same as pixie, minus the plopping. Washing day is the worst because I have to wash in the morning and then I have to go out and wait the 4+ hours for my hair to dry while I'm at work. After it's dry, though, it looks good. I love when it puffs up some and nobody can tell how thin it actually is!

I didn't vote as I still don't like my curls to be honest. I'd try using a honey rinse, it seems to help keep my frizz at bay a little bit.

i dont like my waves when they are wet because they look very stringy & not defined. they look much more defined dry & natural =)

Gah—I hate my hair wet, and dread having to go outside with anything less than entirely dry hair. I hate how limp and flat it is when it's wet. No bounce or volume!

Ditto. Also, during the 5+ hours it takes my hair to dry, it's incredibly frizzy. Somehow, magically, in the last minute it's drying, it becomes smooth, shiny and wonderful.

I try never to leave the house with wet hair and if I do, I'll pull it back in a bun and leave it that way all day.

No, you're not alone, my hair looks like a drippy 2c/3a when wet and transforms in a 3c when dry...

I love my big 3c hair, but the wetlook just looks so.. 1986. LOL!

I voted for hate wet / love dry btw

Default hey!

thank you people for all your nice responses. but no body really told me wat i can do with my hair. making wet and just letting it dry doesnt work.
but leaving conditioner and braiding gave pretty good results. but how big should the brades be?

the braids depend on how big or small you want the curl to be...if you want looser curls do really big braids and the smaller you want your curls to be keep making the braids smaller. play with it until it works =)

My hair always looks perfect while soaking wet. Nice spirally waves. As it dries...shudder...it just looks awful and frizzy. Once it is completely dry, that's the toss up. It's either perfect like it was when wet, or it is frizzy and undefined. Yuck. Thankfully, I get more nice days than bad...but still. It's so hard to be a wavy

Default Wet Hair vs. Dry

My curls look almost perfect when they are wet. But once it dries with no product in it, it naturally becomes so frizzy! I would never dare going without nothing in my hair! After I apply my stying products, my hair starts to look normal again. So, I definitely like my hair wet, versus dry!

The wonder of the French braid! I forgot about that. 20 yrs ago I spent a year in the Philippines as a foreign exchange student. I put cond in my hair then French braided it when wet and let it dry like that. I wore it that way most of the time. It was cool and easy and protected my hair from the intense jungle heat.

I used to hate my hair when wet too btw. I thought I looked like a drowned rat. My BF loves it though. Mentions it every single time he sees it. Finally I said 'you've gotta be kidding, what's to like?!' He replied it's the seaweedy, mermaidy look; he finds it sexy, as in Venus on a Seashell, Botticelli kind of thing. So I've embraced the wet rat look. Er, I mean, the mermaid goddess look.
