Hands up who has waistlength or longer?

Just wondering how many of our resident curlies have very long hair? (I consider this to be waistlength and longer).
Mine is tailbone length at the moment which I am maintaining so as to thicken up the ends a bit.

What are your secrets for healthy defined curls? Do your curls become less curly the longer it gets? Do you like this or not?

Any other advice or info youd like to offer for anyone growing longer hair?

Do tell all!

not me, everyone says mine is long and it's mid back! how much product do you go through?
*raises hand* I am! I'm about 3-4 inches past tailbone when stretched, and my curls can shrink up to just a few inches below BSL when they really wind up. I'm in need of a trim though, I think, because although nobody else sees it but me, I know that my ends are becoming fairytale-ish, and that bothers me.

If I don't plop or diffuse, my curls are dragged down, thin, and wimpy, and that bothers the crap outta me. *lol* I'd love to be a bouncy 3a/b who could just airdry all the time, but alas, my 2c/3a/3b curls need to have their little hands held as they dry to properly bounce up. But if I let my hair dry in the plop as long as possible and then pixiecurl until dry, I lose nothing in the way of curl formation. In fact, my hair stays super bouncy and fairly tangle-free all day. My biggest secret when it comes to keeping my curls defined is TONS of flax gel (or my homemade Gelee usually) scrunched in while my hair is wet. You can find plenty of recipes for homemade flax seed gel - just water and whole flax seeds would be enough, I just tweak it is all. But for sure, FSG is my HG!

Mine is tailbone-length when stretched out, about lower-waist-length when dry and not stretched. My secret is lots of moisture, and either CurlKeeper or BotticelliBabe's FSG, the latter of which is my newest styling miracle. I actually find that the longer it is, the more it stays out of my way, if you get me - I don't notice how long it is in the back since I don't see it, and the ends don't tickle or itch me like they do when it's bra-strap length of so. Just more of a pain to detangle! And ponytails look kinda goobery now...but braids are cool!

Well...Since going (mod) CG my hair has never been healthier. I use a lot of moisturizing conditioners, poo bars (which have made a huge difference!), leave-in, creams, gels, flaxseed gel, you name it. Anything that is moisturizing. I tend to wear my hair up a lot and I think that has aided with growth. I just pay attention to how my hair feels to see if it needs extra moisture (like a DT). HTH.

Well I dont now, but from age 14 thru 31 I had tush length curls. I kept them healthy by trimming my hair RELIGIOUSLY every 6-8 weeks and keeping it well conditioned.

Depends on wet or dry. I'm hip length wet, and BSL dry.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
My hair is past BSL but when pulled straight a little past waist.

Me! LOL. I'm about 3 inches away from tailbone length and I don't want to cut it at the moment (even though I have some split ends).

I'd say my hair's getting a little looser in curl but I think a big part of this is because I air dry and my hair always takes forever to dry. The longer my hair is, the longer I need to wait for it to dry.

I deal with this by getting showers at night and sleeping with a wet head. This gets my hair mostly dry and if I'm lucky, defined waves that I can comb out or leave as is. Braiding and ponytails help keep my hair from frizzing a lot, and they are also great if I must get a shower in the morning.
2a/M-C/ii hair. Super long.
Thanks for the replies.
My hair is around classic length when stretched and tailbone when dry.
Lots of great advice here, I wanted to start this thread to help people with very long curly hair (not just me), so there is somewhere to go for length specific advice. Thanks for all your input

I wash with conditioner or sulfate free shampoo. My brand of choice which I love, love, love right now is A'kin, an Aussie brand. None of their products have cones, sulfates or paraben, in cluding other things. They dont test on animals etc which is also a boon imho.
Their body products are also sulfate, cone and paraben free, and most of their products are 100% organic and aromatherapeutic.

I leave my conditioner in as a leave in, as I find I need something heavier than regular leave ins, and just a dab of coconut oil smoothed through wet hair does the trick for me.
I also sometimes use FSG in wet hair, and my homemade hair pomade which is made from almond oil, beeswax and EO. I NEVER buy store bought hair gels, mousse, wax etc.

Umm I cant think of much more right now but if anyone has any questions about my routine id be happy to help.

I just saw this! Mine is getting quite long now. It's atleast BSL when dry maybe a little past. When stretched it's about an inch and a half maybe more from reaching where my navel would come to on my back. My biggest issue I guess is with tangles. I co-wash and condition with Suave naturals. Sometimes I add in some olive oil and honey. I use aloe vera juice and I also use the gel for hold, so no commercial gels for me. I henna pretty regularly and I'd say it's pretty healthy but it does get dry.

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.
