This is really helping my hair in the dry cold weather. I get root curl.

Thanks so very much, IceQueen!

I don't know if I ever replied to this thread to give it two huge thumbs up. I use this basic method every time I wash. After all, it's just basically scrunching combed-through conditioner in! I can't say I get great hair all the time, but it definitely helps enhance my curls! I love this method.

Glad this is working for you. I still use this method with all my products for clumps.

I LOVE this method. It gives my curls such great definition. Today I plopped with a turbie twist after putting in all my products and when I took it off my curls were shiny and well define. The only problem I had was my roots were flat, which seems to counter what most people experience. Any suggestions for curlier roots?

I really think this is making such a difference in my clumps forming. I usually don't get big or even medium clumps. I get small ones. I would look at the pics of the wavies on here and long for the clumps they were getting. After a while I just figured it wasn't what my hair was going to do so I let it go. Then I saw the thread and after Icequeen posted I figured I'd pull my Deva out of the cabinet and give it a go. My hair looked GREAT and I had CLUMPS. So the next day I figured I'd try it with my other condish and products to see if it was just the Deva. Again my hair did the same thing...great clumps. And yesterday I did it again with some samples I got from KathyMack (I actually had 2nd day hair for once but couldn't wait to try new stuff) and again I had good results. I really think this is making a huge difference and I wanted to make sure that all you who don't use Deva at least had a chance to try it. BTW if I'm not mistaken, this is how Lorraine Massey herself conditioned Icequeen's hair at a curly event a few years ago.

There are more in my Fotki if you want to check them out. And TRY THIS! Thanks again Icequeen!
I'm a newbie here and I have 3c type hair. I decided to go natural and my curls, after two months, are more defined. But I would like to know what is the Icequeen method if someone doesn't mind explaining it to me. Thanks:-)

But just so you know, the link to the IceQueen method in the above post will lead you back to this thread. So what you need to do if you are wanting to know what this method is, is read the first post in this thread very carefully. She explains what the method is pretty well there. You also quoted the method in your post, so you can reread it there. There's nothing else to the method, it's all there.

There are other methods that are good to try, and they're all linked in Heatherbee's post.

I think I will try this. I get good clumps, but getting better clumps would be awesome!

Me too. I've been doing supersoaker, but it makes such a mess. LOL I'm going to give IceQueen a try when I wash my hair tomorrow. I'm overdue for an ACV too, so should get nice bounce as well.

So I did this yesterday after my ACV, and got very nice hair. But I realized I've basically been doing this already - though I got the idea from this board ages ago, which means I either already read this thread (very likely) or I saw a video, or read someone's method of doing this in a modified form. Basically the only thing I do different is I don't rake the condish through first before applying upside down, I just scrunch in upside down. Everything else I do is the same - I let it sit in my hair for the rest of my shower, I rinse with cool water (but leave some in), and then scrunch in a bit more upside down after rinsing.

Anyway, my hair was nice and soft with the additional condish raked in, and I did get nice clumps. I still did super soaker with my FSG and Aussie gel; I tend to get too clumpy if I dont super soak just a bit. I got some nice complements though, and yesterday was a damp day, so for my hair to hold up was nice.

Yay for IceQueen, SuperSoaker, and all the great methods developed on here!!

I actually made myself go to the gym tonight and workout so that I would have to wash my hair and could try this method! haha

I don't have very many products because I'm just starting to try the CG way again so didn't have perfect results, but I did have pretty good ones! I kinda forgot the instructions once I got in the shower so I improvised. I used my Tresemme Naturals as a CO wash which I did with my head upside down. Then I put more in as a rinse out which I left in while I finished showering and then rinsed with cool water upside down again leaving a bit in as a LI. I scrunched the water out the best I could with a cotton tshirt and plopped for a few minutes. Now my hair is pretty clumpy although it is a bit frizzy. I think its because I don't have any non-silicone gel to use yet. Hopefully that will help. But overall I think it is a success and I'm excited to try it again soon

I accidentally did this method earlier this week. My hair felt like seaweed which is rare. Definitely going to try it again tomorrow! I really hope it wasn't a one time thing.

Just tried the icequeen method for the first time. Holy-wave-a-moly!! Wave/borderline curls all the way to the root and soo much volume. Almost didn't recognize my hair! Had a few wonky bits, so I still need a bit more practice. May need to put LI right side up to fix my part and then flip over and finish everything else upside down. So glad I tried this method!
