R2D2/Hard Hat Dryer Help I'm Having A PJ Attack!!!!!!!!

Back in the day my mom had one like that she would dry her hair in after putting it up in curlers. I used to play with it and sit under it all the time. Oh how I wish I had it now LOL I even looked for it knowing darn good and well its been retired.

I am the type of person that would have a set place for it with a special chair and everything so I could use it in the mornings while eating breakfast and watchin the news in the winter time. Might have to get one when winter rolls back around.

I LOOOOOVE this dryer so much. Wish I had listened to Del right away instead of waiting 2 weeks. Whatsercurl I sit under it first and then if my ends are still wet I'll diffuse a little.

Thanks Jess. That's what I did tonight. Hair is almost dry so I'll pineapple and see how it looks after I SOTC in the morning.

I actually like sitting under it. Feels very retro and I can post while I'm there with my laptop. I can see I could grow accustomed to drying my hair while having my coffee and brekkie in the morning.

I find it really soothing actually and I read while under it. Finally finishing the 3 books I started. My kids think it's pretty cool too

If you find you're ending up a little flat, that's a great way to give it some body. I'm finding that the CLU towel and plopping have helped with drying time so I'm only sitting under it for about 20 mins.

I'd wish I could figure out how to the length of it dry without having to resort to diffusing. But even tilting the dryer and my head all over I couldn't get it without lifting the bottom of my hair into the bonnet. Not enough room to do that easily.

But a significant difference in dry time. My hair doesn't look bad today but I just did my hair Wed morning, so it wasn't ready for anymore TLC yesterday. LOL

I'll be able to tell better the next time when my hair is really ready to be done.

Oh - do you find it makes your hair softer? Not sure if that's the drying process or the fact that I did it early.

OH and as far as my hair being softer, Yes this is the case but I don't find I need more product to compensate. It seems to HOLD much better with the R2D2!!

You ladies are killing me with all the talk about this dryer. I'm trying hard to resist the urge to buy one at Sally's on my way home today. Unfortunately I have to stop there to pick up some other stuff....I will try to resist, because I don't NEED it...but now I WANT it!!!!!

I pulled out my old one (Remington, not ionic - very similar to Marinacurlz' above) and tried it again after all this hoopla. Even as short as my hair is now, some of it hung outside the dryer. Rather than diffusing it later, I decided to tape a piece of plastic (cut from an old shower curtain) around the back half to make a sort of curtain (about a foot long) to contain some of the heat and see if that helped. Worked pretty well. ETA: I got this idea after seeing some commercial dryers on-line that come with an extended helmet. Some even have a sort of "door" on the front that you can leave open or close to further contain the heat.

But now I may still have to get one of THE dryers and get the full ionic effect to truly satisfy the PJ in me.

What a great idea! I just knew there was at least one MacGyver on the boards.

I have to change my shower curtain this weekend anyway. I'm going to give it a try.

Thanks auntnett

Auntnett let us know how the shower curtain thing works out and I have to say the Ionic conditioning this thing gives is like nothing I've ever tried. Ionic blowdryers did NOT have this effect I thought the whole thing was a gimmic!

OC'g works itself out in time. I won't use rinse out conditioner for at least a couple weeks. And I'll water wash this weekend. By next week, I'll probably be able to use a little GLI. I used conditioner two days in a row (stoopidly) which is a big no-no for me - even though I only used a tiny bit last night to detangle. All because of my excitement to try the new dryer.

Me, too - I could never tell a difference with ionic blow dryers. I've bought and tried at least three and ended up taking them back. I've about decided to go by Sally's tonight and get an R2D2, though, as well as some Lustrasilk Shea Mango - probably some other goodies once I get in there !

The curtain worked pretty well for me, but I'll be interested to hear how it works for Whatsercurl or others with longer hair.
