Layers definitely help! When I first cut mine, there weren't layers and it was cute for about a day and a half, and then it just looked lank weird, with all of the weight at the bottom of the cut. Then I fooled around with snipping layers in for the next 3-4 days, and boy what a difference it made! My hair even curled better because of it. Good luck on the style update, burgundy!

Go for it! And don't worry about the face thing... I don't think a GA stylist is going to care about some OR chick's face/hair, as long as you get the cut you want.

your hair looks great!! if i could cut mine like that, i'd never pay for a haircut! of course, it does help that you start with great hair, but even still, it looks like a very professional great cut.

Do BANGS & Bobs mix?
I'm a 3a/3b and I've always wanted to get an inverted bob (longer in the front, shorter in the back)!!! I'm thinking about parting it on the left and leaving the hair longer (past chin) on the right so it would be longer on the right, shorter on the left. The problem with this is I think it might make my face look too long. I have a long forehead, so I thought maybe I could just get bangs but I hate the idea of having to straighten it out everyday!
It's been my dream hair cut for years now!!!Well all except the bangs. That's just something I recently came up with to resolve the problem of my face looking too long.
Is it a hideously horrible idea or does it have possibilities? Any suggestions?

An asymmetrical, inverted, curly bob would be fine. Why don't you go for side swept bangs?? IMHO, straight bangs look silly with curly hair. The tighter the curl pattern, the worse it looks--especially with anything as styled as you're thinking.

Is this a bob?
I recently got 11-12 inches cut off my hair...it hasn't been this short (or this curly!) in 9 years! I used to wear my hair shorter, but I think time and kids have given me more natural curl than I ever thought possible
This is probably a silly question, but is this a bob? right now, I'm not really liking it, and I wonder if I need to get the underneath layer shorter? right now it just kind of sticks straight down from the shorter layers, if that makes sense...

I think you need more layers and a definite part. A bob usually looks "sharp" at the bottom.

Your bobs look great ladies! I'd get one, but my hair grows out to fast (2-3inches a month) so I'm just growing it to my waist XD

WOW! is there a secret to your fast growth??
You make growing your hair to your waist sound easy! I haven't even made bob length yet - I'm a little scissor happy though.

My hairdresser's name is Carlos also. Would he be the same as yours? Carlos Febre? I think I need more layering as Kathy suggested. I love all the pictures of your inverted bobs. Hoping that Carlos will be able to do the same for me.

Hi
I recently tried the plopping and my hair looked like Bozo the Clown. It is definitely not for bobs like mine. I did try an old bottle of Suave conditioner- Chamomille. and left a little in after my shower. The curls were more defined and chunky. Any serum will give me the frizzies. Please let me know what gel would be good for a 3b like me. Thanks.

I am new and think i am a 3b. My bob is getting very flat on the top and poofs out on the sides. Here is my picture. Think I need to get more layering on top. Do you?

Picture is small, so it's hard to see. The "symptoms" you describe should be cured by layers. The layers need to be through out--not just on top. Someone named curlpro gave a link to how they are taught to cut hair in school. It's exactly what my stylist does to my hair. I always wet and style before I go in, so he can see how my hair is behaving and shape/cut accordingly.

Love Those Bobs
The pictures of bobs that have been posted by all you curly girls are gorgeous! I have worn my hair this way for about 20 years and have tried other styles on and off-growing it long, then cutting it short but the bob seems to be the only style that my hair likes. It is easy to keep, has movement and dries quickly. I am 62 years old and have let my hair grow in gray. The back is still dark silver but I have white hilights framing my face. My hair still loves the bob so I guess it will be my forever style. Had no luck with the inverted bob but the sides are slightly longer than the back. Kathymack has been great with product suggestions. Anyone else have 3b hair and willing to share their experiences with product?
