I think I may belong here now. Just got hair cut today and had nothing to do so I read this whole thread. I used to have hair to my waist and I had been trying to get long hair forever! I'm 34 and refused to be one of those people who cut just cause of their age. I then cut short cause my super long hair was too much work. I was told how much younger I looked and I was inclined to agree. So anyway I grew to BSL again...
Now I was going in to cut cause I was bored...I've looked essentially the same for years...and also I got some health issues coming up that aren't gonna let me spend 20 minutes in the shower every morning detangling. So now it's like to the bottom of my neck...I friggin love it...got some subtle ombré color too. She told me if I wanna go lighter I can just go back to her...she didnt wanna change me too much too quick. Anyhow...I think I'm gonna stop trying to have the real long hair...it kinda drags my face down...

I just got it done today and have been laying on it all day so tomorrow when I get a chance to re do it...I'll take a pic to post.

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.

Thanks...I just love it. I can't stop playing with it. I really feel it makes me look younger too. It takes like 10 minutes in the shower. So I may go redo it again just to see what else I can use in it...lol

I'm telling u...I love it. I had been trying to grow long hair since I was a little girl...I accomplished it. It was nice and I got compliments. I wore it up more than anything...it was kinda drab and I was told how much younger I looked when I cut it. I really felt I needed a change..and boy was this it..it's so bouncy and cute. She also did some subtle ombré...I may go back Saturday for her to lighten it more...I feel daring now...lol

Default Thank you!!!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to those who have posted in this thread. I have been wanting to chop off my long hair for years, and was looking for curly bob pictures for inspiration. I came across this thread and then read OperaCurls post about her DIY haircut. I couldn't quite believe what I read, and looking at the photo of her self-cut bob, I was just amazed that a DIY haircut could look so good.

So then I kept reading and saw other people had also had a go at cutting their own hair, and now I was getting inspired to try it myself. After spending a while on the net trying to get info and tips on how to cut my own curly bob, I finally had a go myself. I am so glad I did. I really like the shorter length, and I don't miss my long hair at all.

Obviously the result is not as good as if a professional was cutting my hair, and I probably need to get some decent scissors, but it wasn't a disaster, and it was free. I also have the confidence to keep snipping away if I decide I want to change/fix anything (which I probably will do).

I'm not one that seeks attention, but I've had plenty of compliments since I did the big chop, so I am thinking it probably doesn't look too horrid.

Anyway, just wanted to say thank you for giving me the idea and inspiration to go ahead and cut my own hair!
