Recently I had a bad run in with a formaldehyde resleaser in a product I was using. Imidazolidinyl Urea was the name it was listed under.

I found out the hard way I am allergic.

I am posting this for unknowing curly heads and for others to make informed decisions about the products they use and to not buy a product without knowing the ingredients.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formaldehyde

It is in such products as Sauve and VO5. Along with those products I was using a face/body lotion containing it too called Chantal.

I was only using them for a couple of days before my symptoms arrived, and before then ignored some of the signs.

It is "safe" in small amounts. Yes this may be true, but for a person like me I do not want to submit myself to it and would rather find alternative Co-washes and body lotions and hair rinses.

It may also be I was using the lotion as well at CO but still, after that reaction I am done with those products.

What I really want is for you to know what is in your products, because no one else is going to tell you, and what is good for some may not be for others.

Also some people find it harmless, okay great, but it may not be harmless for you.

The point of this is:

Please do your own research

This does not mean stay away from those products because I or someone else say so, just know what is in them and if it works for you or not.

Trial and error is good.

I am going to go find some friendly products for me.
