rudeechick - what a great combo idea!!

Ok..in the thread about repurchasing or using something you know will not work rudeechick mentioned she used DMHJ under Boots. Of course, I had to try it. I think the alcohol in the boots offset the aloe/honey in the DMHJ.

I didn't use a leave in either - put a nickel sized amount of DMHJ in my hair - scrunched it in then a dime sized amount of boots - emulisified in my hand and then scrunched in (both upside down). Then - what was left of the boots on my hands I scrunched in right side up. I am not sure if rudeechick used any gel but I scrunched with my curlease and added a small amount of BHRG to my ends while upside down. I felt like my hair would need some hold.

I have diffused and it's drying the rest of the way now but nice curl and root volume.

Thanks for the idea rudeechick!!

I had to try this today, too. I did use a leave-in and then worked in a small amount of DMHJ, then the Boots, scrunched with my Curls Like Us (this has been working better since I've been using a leave-in) and then plopped for maybe not quite 10 minutes. Well, as soon as I started diffusing, the moisture seemed to immediately get sucked out of my hair and it started to frizz. I had to spray it down with water and added some AG Liquid Effects gel and it immediately started curling and lookin' good. It's still drying, so we'll see. I'm guessing my hair still doesn't like the DMHJ for some reason. I know it's not the weather today because the dewpoint is 49. I used the Boots a couple of times earlier this week and it worked well, so it's not that. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..........

MSG our hair doesn't like too many oils. It's gotta be the jojoba and shea that are drying you out and causing FRIZZ. I know it did with me even though it took a while to figure out..... I swapped my HJ and a lot of other heavily oiled products I had after getting build up and crispy hair. ICK!!! That was so horrible!!!

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Sunshine, you made me feel better. I think some of these companies don't want you to see the ingredients! And the ones who do the white printing, like on the Mop-C Curl Defining Cream, drive me nuts! I had to actually get a flashlight the other night to be able to read the ingredients.

Oh I know you are msg!! I don't know maybe it's because it's Jojoba and Shea together??? I also think it might be the opposite for ME anyway. I've been using Deva SMU Pomade and it has jojoba but I'm using it on DRY hair which is why I THINK it doesn't bother me. If I used it on WET like the DMHJ I think it would be more of a problem because the Oils would really absorb into the hair as opposed to kind of sitting on top like the pomade?? Just a thought.....

You know its odd - there are some oils my hair cannot tolerate straight (jojoba, olive, citruses, etc). But in products it seems to be ok..... And coconut oil I can use straight in my DT.
