The Night of many Experiments

SO is out of town - actually out of the country on business . I actually have to go into my office 2 days this week so tonight was my night that I could experiment without having to go anywhere first thing in the morning.

So, I did my nexxus emergencee treatment tonight. I did actually shampoo prior because I needed to (I used my malibu 2000 well water no sulphate poo as I had not done that in about 3-4 weeks and it was time). I think put on the nexxus stuff - that is weird stuff. It made my hair feel thicker. I left it on 5 minutes or so. Then I rinsed it all out and put on Giovanni 50/50 condish. I combed that through and scrunched it in and then rinsed it all out. This happened to be done upside down as I did this at a sink. I then combined Boots and leave in....raked it in then combed it through as well. I used my curlease to get some water out. It's weird but when I do my hair over a sink it seems like my hair is much wetter than in a shower. Probably my imagination. Anyways, I then scrunched in a BHRG/AVG-Theraneem AVG combo upside down and then a bit more upright.

I have diffused and it is now fully dry. For the next experiment I am not SOTC and will use a silk sleep bonnet and see how my hair looks in the morning. This part of my experiment is more for just to see because I really don't have any reason not to shower in the morning and I really don't mind doing my hair daily. But I am curious to see if my hair will hold up until morning. I have to say that not scrunching out the crunch is driving me nuts. I hate my hair all crunchy and wet looking. But I will not succumb to SOTC for the sake of the experiment.

Not that anyone is really interested in this part of my experiment other than me but I will update in the a.m.

I've tried the non-SOTC at night a couple times. Works pretty well but I have to do my hair before supper in order for it to be fully dry by the time I go to bed.

Be interested to here your results.

I do that a lot, resisting the VERY POWERFUL URGE to SOTC before bed. It gives my curls way more resistance until morning.

And I think my hair is wetter in the sink, too. I think that the concentration of the water flow to your hair is significantly more in the sink.

styling - confused and running out of products. TRYING LOOB!
trying: tweek...barely.
WAITING to try: Melting Gel...resisting the urge to become a PJ...kind of...
Dislikes: molasses and CK so unfortunately...
I am glad I am not the only one that notices how wet my hair is when washed in the sink. It baffles me how it would seem wetter this way then it does when I rinse upside down in the shower. I was thinking it was because I am wet in the shower so the water dripping off my hair does not bother me so much and when I am over the sink I am trying not to drip everywhere.

Ok..the bonnet looked absolutely ridiculous - I am not sure what would have happened without it but I have one more night I can try it without a bonnet and that is Thursday - we will see if I am up to the challenge.

My hair was mostly dry (97% I would say) when I put it up in the bonnet. I slept ok. The bonnet was still on my head this morning. I have a bonnet line across my forehead - it's still there and I have been up an hour!

There was still some crunch left after I took the bonnet off. My hair was a bit odd looking as the ends had gotten caught up in each other. It's a bit frizzy as well and the front is sitting a bit oddly where the bonnet pushed it back. But overall, I am actually kinda impressed with how it looks.

In conclusion - I probably would not do this unless I had a specific reason - like traveling really early for work or something and I could not take the time to let my hair dry. I am going to try and put my hair in a shower cap this a.m. and do my shower stuff and see what happens.

All in all - a successful experiment so far.

Ah yes the bonnet line. Mine took hours to get rid of which is why I only used it once. The one speckla uses has a really wide band that looks softer.

I'm sure as your hair "settles" it will look great.

I ended up pulling back the front and a bit of the sides to fix the weird hairline on the front.

Overall - it looks decent. I am actually surprised.

Well, cool! I've got to try it one of these days. Thanks for being our guinea pig, xcptnl!

When I do it, it's usually when I have to get up really early or when I have a morning meeting and need to be sure my hair is fully dry in time to SOTC before then. I usually don't sleep with a cap because it smushes my hair too much, plus I also get the elastic line and sometimes it takes forever to go away - must be age as I don't remember it always doing that, LOL. I just flip it up behind me on the pillow.

I tried it today for the first time since getting it cut off, and it did pretty well, but I did have to mist the bottom of the back with some AVG water and rescrunch where it got messed up sleeping on it - still a lot faster than washing and going thru the whole process this a.m. When it's not quite so squished but needs some help, a lot of times I can get in the shower without a shower cap, still without SOTC, and the steam perks the product back up and fixes some of the wonky places - just have to be careful not to get it too wet. Then I let it "rest" and dry while putting on makeup and dressing.
2C/3A/3B - modified CG - fairly fine now, normal/low porosity/normal elasticity

Current Main Rotation: MG217 medicated or Aim2Health 'poos for scalp, Elucence cond., Spiral Solutions Protein & Deeply Decadent Cond., CJCCCC reg or lite,CJ Pattern Pusha,, Giovanni LA Hold Hair Spritz + lots more, sporadically

HG Method: Super Soaker + Smasters-ing, brief upside down diffusing w/360o diffuser then clips/clamps & air dry. Newly gray - stopped my henna glosses!

BTW-I can still see a faint line from the cap and it's been 8 hours!!! And it didn't even feel tight. I think auntnett is right - must be my old skin.

I would be curious as to how my hair would do with no cap with it being so short. I cannot really pull it up on top of the pillow. Next experiment.

At Wal-Mart I saw a bonnet that had a tie instead of an elastic band. Maybe that one wouldn't leave a mark? Now I never want to use the bonnet I got. I don't want a funny mark on my forehead at all. I love my hair but nooo thanks.

I know it isn't long enough to pineapple, but what about when it's crunchy, pulling as much of the top of your hair up as you can on top of your head with a scrunchie and sleeping that way? If you be the guinea pig, then I can try it since my hair isn't long enough to pineapple anymore, either. I may try this again Thursday night but now I don't know if I want to try just letting it be but not scrunched out or just putting my top hair up in a scrunchie and not scrunched out??!! Even though the bonnet was totally obnoxious and scary looking (put it this way I walked by the mirror last night and I scared myself) it worked well because my hair just sat in it - there was no way for the curl to be pulled out.

Have you or do you try KCCC in a bonnet overnight after washing at night or just laying flat behind you? What were the results, anyone?
No one? I tried looking it up but no one really had an answer to that question. My hair is a little shorter than my shoulders so I think I would get lots of frizz...

Thank you, yes, I did try that. However, most of them have long hair and my hair is short now so after plopping for any period of time, the back of my hair is angled weird and separated and looks like I'm bald, . I really want to try it but would be annoyed if I go through the work and have to rewash anyways, .
On Thursday - I tried going to bed with unscrunched out hair but no bonnet. I thought when I got up it was going to be as good as the night with the bonnet but I think I waited too long to scrunch it out - I waited til noon time and it was like my hair got stuck - it was stringy and frizzy...not good. So I am unsure if I had scrunched right away if it would have been OK or not...to me it looked better on the front than it did with the bonnet - no weird hairline thing going so I have to think it was that my hair was in the hard stage for too long. Go fiture.

If you are trying to sleep before SOTC, try to use products with more hold than you would normally use if you were going to wash and style in the morning.
