Default what's wrong in the back?

Hi! I'm relatively new to this site(been lurking for about a month probably though) and this is my first post. I have been CG for about 4 weeks but havn't seen a really dramatic difference. But I'm trying to stick it out. Anyways, the main problem I'm having with my hair is in the back. The front generally has some nice ringlets and clumping but the back is just a frizzy ratty mess! It's all stringy with no clumps or definition. I don't know how to help it!
My current routine:
-Co-wash every other day with Suave Coconut
-Rinse every day with Suave and use as leave-in
(I just bought some LVPNG and have used it once- I think I will rotate it with the suave)
-scrunch with my hands and apply HE totally twisted
-plop for 15-20 minutes

Also, I think I'm a 2c-3a. I basically have no root curl- it doesn't start curling until about 2-4 in down.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

1. Satin pillowcase and/or pineappling.
2. Visit to a hairdresser

The back of my hair has improved since I started pineappleing at night. Less friction between hair and a pillowcase-> less frizz.

I have the exact same problem you do, and ironically I also use suave coconut conditoner and HETT gel. It doesn't matter how much I scrunch the back, it always looks about 2a-2b, while the rest of my hair is 3a-3b. I really hope you get some good advice, because this is a little problem I would love to solve!

I have the exact same problem also! I have realized that if you just keep going with your CG routine and use more gel it generally helps. Now sometimes I actually get curls at the ends of my hair back there! Layers could help also.

The back might be prone to drying out, maybe try something a little more moisturizing than Suave. The protein in either the Suave or Vive Pro or both might be making it worse.

Product application helped me quite a bit. I tried the Curlisto method for applying my products and I noticed a big difference. While I don`t use that method anymore, I apply product in two sections in the back still - underneath then canopy. I also hang my head to the back to scrunch the back so the hair is positioned pretty much the same as when I scrunch the sides. For me it`s all method.

My hair curls as well in the back as the front, but it clumps more so it doesn`t look it. I almost always have patches where a clump has left spots almost devoid of curl.

same here. For me, this has nothing to do with CG. My hair has always looked worst in the back... i just try not to look at it and acknowledge it... LOL. I know that doesnt help the situation, but i keep telling myself, as long as it looks nice in the front, i can get away with it! LOL.

yes i was the exact same way. the front would be nice and curly 3a while the back would be almost straight and nothing would change it. i went cg and it still didnt work so i found that using the icequeen method, plopping when you get out, and then diffusing works amazing (well it does for me and i hope it does for you) i actually have CURL&CLUMPING in the back now that holds even once its dry. i think diffusing and a good amount of hair gel will really do you some good:]

thanks for the advice everyone and I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I guess I just need to do some experimenting!

If you please could explain how you apply products in two sections on the back? My crown is always oversaturated with products, while underneath it's almost dry; hence, poor clumping on the back. Thanks in advance!
