My hair has been very dry and frizzy lately!!! especially in the back and canopy....any ideas...i think it may be protein sensitivity but if it is how to i get rid of the frzzies/dryness?

I've tried a DT and olive/jojoba oils, and nothing has worked so far?? any ideas??

Sounds like protein to me. The only way to know for sure is to cut it out and see if your hair improves. Is it worse on days you use certain products? Keeping a hair journal could help you figure out the culprit.

I'm not familiar with the BOLDED items maybe you can post the ingredients? The other stuff gets discussed on here a lot and they are CG so it's really hard to say what the culprit is...do any of these things have CONES? Are you using a low poo or strictly co-washing? The problems with build up and protein in my own personal experience have very similar symptoms even too many oils can make my hair feel straw-like and dry especially Jojoba.

I found PMRT very drying. I haven't used it in about a year and don't remember the ingredients offhand. I did a quick search--but didn't easily find them. That could be causing some of the problem.

Castor oil can be problematic for some even the PEG ones. There is some Hydrolyzed proteins in your products as well. Linaool is a weird ingredient I used a low poo recently that uses it and it left my hair really funky but it might have been the combo, not sure won't use it again regardless.

Can you get a hold of some Lustrasilk Shea Mango? It makes a great DT and it's inexpensive. You can add some Olive oil to it to make it richer. It's hard to say whether the jojoba is helping you or not Olive oil is a safe bet. I would discontinue all of the above products and gradually add them back in one at a time until your hair returns to normal. You could also DT with the Conditioning Balm with some added Oil perhaps? Some butters would be great for your hair right now and the Lustrasilk is really nice. Check RCC's thread about Lustrasilk there are some that have Mineral Oil and other yucky ingredients. The Olive Oil one is lighter. You can find it at Sally's.

Good LUCK!!! Keep us posted This is just MY 2cents

Thanks DEL2C!...Unfortunately I have no idea where to get any Lustrasilk...I live in Canada and I don't have a Sally's anywhere nearby...Do you know of anywhere else that I could find it...or any othe products that would work similarly?

I'll try a DT with the conditioning balm and some olive oil added to it.

O another question, are DTs better on dry or wet hair?

Umm I'm pretty sure I can, I remember a month or so back I tried cutting them out but I had wayy too many with them....so i just used less, and I'm pretty sure the dewpoint has risen recently from all this warm weather I'm getting.

In other words, I'm clueless lol

My hair isn't poofy or anything by any means which is another question in itself, it's just frizzy, like it won't form curls in places just frizz, and there's especially crazy frizz on the canopy and back but not so much anywhere else

O I've been using KY and it works really well to at least get rid of some of the frizz, so I'm assuming that i can handle humectants

DEL2C may have a point about the castor oil. In any event, I'm totally impressed by the rigor of her analysis!

A few additional thoughts:

Have you tried an ACV? If there is some kind of buildup from anything you're using, that would be a good way to get rid of it. The symptoms you're describing are a little reminiscent of overconditioning. In any event, doing an ACV won't hurt anything so might as well give it a try.

These products are very low in protein. Are you protein-sensitive? If not, I think I'd give your hair a little protein and see if that perks it up.

I haven't tried a ACV rinse yet, I need to go to the store and buy some ACV at some point today.

I was protein sensitive awhile back but i dyed my hair (stupid me) a couple times and was able to use protein, but now i'm kind of thinking it's coming back because my hair is as dry as it was back then, idk if it's a specific type of protein or all types.

If the vinegar doesn't help, then maybe introduce some protein again and see what happens. Maybe you don't need it on a regular basis -- just a little now and then, like redcelticcurls discovered for her hair.
