I'm new to the CG thing so, I'm hoping to find someone to talk to about what theyve tried and what products work for them.

My hair is curl patter 3A.
My hair is Coarse, and thick.
My hair has a low porosity.

My hair hates oils.
I recently did a protein treatment and my hair LOVED it.
I need to do DEEP DTS every week.
I easily tangle.


Anyone else have hair like me?
Or am I weird?

I think I recall others having similar hair type. Hopefully someone will answer. I have 3a hair too, but mine is fine textured, thin in thickness, and doesn't tangle very much. We're kinda opposites.

Curly: GVP The Cream (love this)
Straight: Ojon Tunu on wet hair, Aveda Smoothing Fluid and Style Prep Smoother before flat ironing or blow drying

NOPE I wouldn't say I'm your hair twin. Sorry honey If I was I would have replied! The only similarities we share are sensitive to Oils. I'm a 2C, protein sensitive and I don't tangle at all.

Ok, here's what I had before :P

My hair is curl patter 3A.- Check!
My hair is Coarse, and thick. - Check! Ish, I guess. My texture's not QUITE 'coarse'. Somewhere between that and medium.
My hair has a low porosity. - Eh... more medium for me

My hair hates oils. - I'm not sure...
I recently did a protein treatment and my hair LOVED it. - Check!
I need to do DEEP DTS every week. - No. I NEVER DT.
I easily tangle.- Eh. Maybe, but it's easily detangled in the shower, so *shrug*

Sorry mostly 3A, pretty fine and only medium thickness, porosity - still trying to figure it out but maybe low, love protein, hate oils, only DT before and after hair colour, always tangled and it's b*tch to get them all out even in the shower.

And don't feel like a freak of nature. I've been on here for over a year and only last week saw someone who conditions less than me. I also hardly ever see anyone who prefers their hair 2-3 days after they've done it and usually goes a week without doing anything but pineapple, spritz, smooth and scrunch. Just as every person is different so is their hair.

I can only come up with 3 similarities - 3A and love proteins and hate oils (straight oils - oils in things are ok).

My hair isn't really similar to yours, but I just wanted to say that you might find it changing as it gets healthier.

When I first went CG, my hair tangled very easily. I hated getting it wet because it would knot. As it got healthier, I had fewer and fewer tangles. It is now a non-issue.

Also, although my hair is still on the thin side, it's much more abundant now. I think it had been breaking off from straightening.

Don't worry about finding a hair twin. Just find what works for you.

Thank you all so much. I love my hair. Im hoping to get it cut here next month to do a mini BC. My boyfriend wont be happy because I know I need a couple inches taken off honestly, but in the pros it will be healthier. Plus money is really really tight right now, and im working with some products that dont work for me. My hair HATES low-poos and sulfate poos. My conditioner is doing nothing for me, and I'd like to try a new gel. Though, Im hoping soon to start my new job and get some moooolah, because keeping my PJism under control is hard, but having 5 dollars in your checking account makes it a little easier lol.

I'm nowhere close to giving up on the whole CG thing. I love it to death.

Cara, my hair isn't like yours either. Just wanted to say that I saw some of the pictures on the "Boots" thread. In the non Boots pictures, your hair looks beautiful. I can only imagine what it will do when you get the haircut and use products it likes!

No im pretty sure im low porosity, hair dye that takes 30 minutes or normal people takes about 60 on me. Plus my hair doesnt soak stuff up really at all, and i know the Shea Mango is for damaged hair but Jess sent it to me and im really tired of making my own DT's so I gave it a try, and it really worked out.
