Hot oil treatment... now what?

Hey everyone,

So, I did a hot oil treatment last night. I did the Queen Helene Cholesterol protein oil and the Jojoba oil. Since i have tons of thick hair i figured i might need 2 and since they are both full of protein, i'd do a bit of both. well today i noticed no real change... My hair pretty much looks the same. i left it on for 1 and a half episodes of iCarly and the beginning of Scrubs... co- washed with VO5 and Burts Bees Sugar and Grapefruit conditioner. what could this mean? Protein was never the issue? Does this mean i am protein sensitive? How else can i get moisture in my hair?

Since your hair is the same, I doubt it's a protein issue. If you had issues with protein, your hair would feel much dryer...much much dryer.
I used to use hot oil treatments and I don't think they really did much of anything for me, personally.
That's right, I said it! I wear scrunchies!!

I am a sulfate washing, cone slabbing, curly lovin' s.o.b. The CG police haven't caught me yet.

I use similar hot oil treatment i think without the Cholesterol.

I all I can really say is that my hair feels a lot better and is way more shinier until the next wash out
I would try a different moisture treatment. I can't do hot oil treatments because they don't penetrate the hair shaft.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Tried the QHC hot oil before attempting to go CG and couldn't tell it did anything at all, nor did VO5 - in fact, the latter has a caution about leaving it on for more than a minute. What's that all about?!

I do much better to just use plain jojba or coconut oil if I use oils at all. I much prefer to just DT with rich conditioners like GVP balm and AOHR. I'm about to try Lustrasilk to see what all that hoopla is about.
2C/3A/3B - modified CG - med./fine, normal/low porosity/normal elasticity

Current Main Rotation: MG217 medicated or Aim2Health 'poos for scalp, YTCarrots or Elucence cond., Spiral Solutions Protein & Deeply Decadent Cond., CJCCCC reg or lite, KCCC, Giovanni LA Hold Hair Spritz + lots more, sporadically

HG Method: Super Soaker + Smasters-ing, brief upside down diffusing w/360o diffuser then clips/clamps & air dry. Newly gray - stopped my henna glosses!

Have you ever tried AOHR conditioner? It's great if you need more moisture.
2c/3a some 3b/Thick/Fine texture?/High Porosity
Currently trying out the CG method again as of 1/3/12!

Current Routine:
Co-wash/RO: Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle
Low poo: Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat (when needed)
Products: LA Looks Sports Gel and Curly Kinks Coil Jam

Yes, AOHR is very moisturizing - so much so that I can pretty much only use it as a DT. The oils in it weigh me down too heavily for regular use.

i quit being a curly but i will try and give my hair tons of moisture! I tried the GVP Conditioning Balm and it was awesome. I might still invest in the AOHR cause whether curly or straight, HAIR NEEDS MOISTURE!!!

Thanks for the help

I love GVPCB as a regular rinse-out and also leave it on for longer times with a cap as a DT sometimes, but AOHR is even more moisturizing, at least for me.

LOL. I straightened my hair. LOL. I'm going to get a big chop done in a couple weeks, then i'll try the fully CG thing again. I think my hair is too damaged at this point which is probably why nothing is working on my hair. I am going to keep nourishing it tho so that after my BC, i can get real actual curls and not the stringy stuff my hair was doing!

AOHR here i come

You're too hard on yourself - like most of us. I thought the recent pictures you posted were very pretty.
