Oh, the frizz!!!

Two days ago, I co-washed then conditioned ala the ice queen method. Then I applied my leave-in, some gel, some more condish. I ended up with great hair! My second day hair was even better. I could have gone for 3rd day hair but I am in love with the smell of VO5's strawberries and cream. So I wet down my hair...

Oh lord, I have never seen so much frizz in my life. I kept battling it, applying more conditioner, spray gel...I used so much gel today it was insane.

At one point I was just pouring conditioner onto my head.

I don't understand.

All I know is that I really want to dry my hair because I have had at least damp hair since 9am and I'm quite cold now.

Is your hair really soft too? I get soft, undefined frizziness when I'm overconditioned. I think my hair looks better on Day 2 and beyond and I usually condition only once a week or less.

No softness at all. It's been feeling very rough and with enough product, plasticy at best.

Sounds way over conditioned to me, plus I can't use a regular conditioner as a leave-in without being frizzy and undefined - wasn't sure if you were using the VO5 as your leave-in or something else . . . nor could I apply any sort of conditioner after gel without the same - defeats the whole purpose of gel for me. All that said, we don't appear to have the same type of hair . . . .

If it feels rough, maybe it's a protein issue. I'd first do as Del suggests and see what that does. I'd clarify and DT. If that doesn't improve it, then I'd start looking at how much protein I'm getting and where and start eliminating it one thing at a time.
